MANAGEMENT SUPPORT SYSTEMS
Management support system is a subset of management information system that aids mainly in decision making process and other operations in an organization.
With the changes in business environment, organizations needs to adopt computerized systems in analyzing business performance and other crucial decisions to be made in the business. Management support systems for instance are some of the computer based systems that usually provide data to the organization that is supposed to be used to support the managerial team in decision making.

PIE CHART COMPARING THE MSS USING POTENTIAL
In my research on the different MSS used in business, I did an analysis on the MSS that are being used by the most productive electronic companies in US whose results are depicted in the pie chart.
From the pie chart above, it can be shown that the highest used MSS is transaction processing support system (T. P. S. S) with 31% of the pie chart area. The second is the decisions support systems (D. S. S) the 26% of the total pie chart area. The third is the executive support system (E. S. S) with a total area of 21% pie chart area. The office automation support systems follows with 13% and finally knowledge management support systems with 9% of the total pie chart area.

The executive support systems are designed to assist the top management of the organization in making the strategic decisions concerning the company. Decision support systems aid in making decisions where there appears to be uncertainty about the outcomes of the decisions. Transactions processing systems are used in ensuring routinely efficiency and accuracy in the transactions. Office automation systems will assist in improving the productivity of employees who may be in need of processing any data within the company. And finally, knowledge management systems enables the company departments to create and share information with ease (Mithani, Salsburg, & Rao, 2018).

The systems execute sensitivity analysis
They utilizes replicas and links to information and knowledge bases
They can be adopted over periods to deal with changing conditions
They support decision makers at all managerial levels
They are intended for repeated use.
It should be emphasized that the management support systems are meant to support decision makers in making crucial decisions but not to replace them. These systems also provide certain capabilities that support more than one tasks related to decision making which includes: intelligence and information analysis.

BENEFITS OF USING MSS
The MSS will improve the decision quality of the company.
The MSS will enhance better converse between different departments in the company.
The MSS will improve the company’s levels of performance analysis.
The MSS will improve the company’s competitive advantage.
The MSS will assist the company in revealing more information about the customers besides improving the workers’ productivity (Laudon, K. & Laudon, J. 2016).
Due to the availability of information, the company management makes more rational decisions based on reliable data. Also due to the harmonized information within the company, the managerial team can easily identify problem areas besides finding a mutually agreeable solutions. The managerial team can also identify the strengths and shortfalls of the company hence facilitating the remedy of the situation in case of weakness or improve in case of strength.

TYPES OF DECISIONS SUPPORTED BY THE MSS
There are mainly five decisions concerning the ABC company that the system will support and are listed below;
Programmed besides non programmed decisions.
Strategic and operational decisions
Routine decisions
Organizational decisions
Major besides minor decisions.
The programmed decisions concerns situations that are repetitive in nature to the company like buying of raw spare parts and electronic work supporting tools on the other hand, non programmed decisions are related to difficult situation which doesn’t require easy solutions like opening a new company branch in a different State. The routine decisions doesn’t require much evaluation nor analysis, since they are concern with general functioning of the company.

TOP LEVEL MANAGERS
They use the MSS to plan and make decisions.
They also use the MSS to set the objectives to the company
Top management is the highest rank in management. It’s mandated with setting the objectives besides making decisions on behave of the company. The MSS helps them to set realistic objectives and strategic decisions (Turban, 2016).

MIDDLE LEVEL MANAGERS
The middle level managers use the MSS to do performance analysis in the company.
They also use the MSS to develop time line for development and implementation of activities in the company.
In coming up with the performance index of the company, the MSS becomes of great role to the middle level managers. Also in overseeing the development and implementation of the company activities, MSS is very vital.

LOWER LEVEL MANAGERS
The MSS helps the lower level managers to develop strategies that will assist in supervising the company employees who are in the field like technicians.
It also helps them to plan for effective day to day operations in the company.
The lower level managers finds the MSS very crucial when exercising their duties. Starting from planning of the daily activities to conducting of the employees in an effective manner, they find strategies that results from the use of MSS very helpful.

The MSS supports the ABC company in establishing a competitive advantage in the following ways;
Through the decision making strategy offered by the MSS, the company establishes a cost leadership which also results from increased efficiency
The MSS also helps the managerial team to establish a differentiation strategy which is crucial to competitive advantage.
The MSS also helps the company to remain focused to its goals.
By using cost leadership strategy, the company aims to be the low cost manufacturer in relation the competitors hence gaining more market. The differentiation strategy also helps the company to have non-price element that makes the company superior its competitors in the same level. Finally, by adopting focus strategy, the company directs its focus to narrow products line besides its main set goals (Sroufe, & Joseph, 2017).

Recommendation
For the success of the company besides curbing market competition, the company needs to adopt executive, decision and transactions processing support systems first as they will help the company expand faster (Christina, & Santiago, 2018).
The executive, decision and transactions processing support systems are the three main support systems to the company as they cover all the sections. Therefore if ABC company will adopt them first, it will enhance its easy breakthrough in the market.
