Summary of strengths:

Based on my self-evaluation of my clinical skills, I have found a few strengths that I bring to my work. I'm sure I can spot the clinical signs and symptoms of mental illness, do and understand thorough history and physical exams, and come up with and rank different possible diagnoses. These skills are necessary to provide high-quality mental care to many patients. I'm also sure that I can keep professional boundaries, work within my practice, and teach people and their caretakers about psychology, all of which are important for building therapeutic relationships and improving health.

Opportunities for growth:

In addition, I've seen some things I need to work on. I need to get better at telling the difference between pathophysiological and psychopathological conditions, doing and analyzing mental status exams, and working with multidisciplinary teams to improve clinical practice. These areas give me chances to improve at what I do, especially when combining diagnostic thinking with thorough assessments and team-based care methods. By working on these areas, I think that I can improve my clinical skills and become a better, more well-rounded practitioner.

Now, write three to four (3–4) possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ensure that they follow the SMART Strategy, as described in the Learning Resources.

Measurable Goals and Objectives for Practicum Experience:

1. Goal 1: Improvement of abilities in distinguishing between pathophysiological and psychopathological disorders during psychiatric assessments.

· Objective 1.1: Participate in weekly case discussions focusing on the differential diagnosis of complex cases.

· Objective 1.2: Review and apply DSM-5-TR criteria in at least five monthly clinical cases, ensuring accurate diagnosis.

· Objective 1.3: Obtain feedback from the preceptor on diagnostic reasoning skills bi-weekly to track progress.

2. Goal 2: Increase proficiency in conducting and analyzing mental state assessments.

· Objective 2.1: Conduct mental status examinations on at least 10 patients during the practicum.

· Objective 2.2: Reflect on each examination and document learnings, focusing on areas requiring further development.

· Objective 2.3: Seek mentorship and direct observation from a preceptor to refine examination techniques.

2. Goal 3: Develop stronger collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams to improve mental health practice.

· Objective 3.1: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings weekly, contributing to case discussions and treatment planning.

· Objective 3.2: Engage with at least three healthcare professionals (e.g., social workers, psychologists) to understand their roles in patient care.

· Objective 3.3: Evaluate and document the outcomes of collaborative efforts in patient care and reflect on the impact on treatment outcomes.
