Why esports is a real sports event

The reason of I do this research is gaming is actually made a great effect to the field of sports, but many people are not admit it is a real sports events. In the current social context, e-sports has formed a huge scale in the world, both in terms of the size of professional leagues and the number of professional players. As an emerging product, e-sports is influencing sports and people's understanding of sports.

Dota2, LOL, CS : GO, Heroes Of The Storm, Call Of Duty are the games with top 5 highest prize pool in the world. What is more, the prize pool of them are increasing continually. From these things I founded, scale of esports is get bigger and bigger, no matter is the scale of league or the scale of prize pool. Besides, the number of professional teams and professional players is also increasing year by year, and e-sports is developing more and more prosperous. This has led the world to focus on this emerging thing and debate whether e-sports is a real sport event or not. After several years of development, the professional e-campaigner has become recognized as a professional athlete, and e-sports has been recognized as an official sport and will be on the Olympic stage in the future. All these things give us a signal that esports is a real sports event and professional esports players are recognized as athletes as well. In my opinion, I think that esport should be treated as a real sport event and I will show you the reasons why.

The Battle.net World Championship Series (BWCS) was the shared branding for video game tournaments held by Blizzard Entertainment for their games StarCraft II (SC2) and World of Warcraft (WoW) in 2012. The StarCraft II event series, the StarCraft II World Championship Series, maintained the World Championship Series branding beyond the year and continues to use it, but the 'Battle.net World Championship Series' brand has not been used since.  ("Battle.net World Championship detailed, 28 countries involved")

The  League of Legends World Championship is the annual professional League of Legends world championship tournament hosted by Riot Games and is the culmination of each season. Teams compete for the champion title, the 70 pounds (32 kg) Summoner's Cup, and a US$1 million championship prize. In 2017, the finals were watched by 60 million people, breaking 2016's finals' viewer record. The tournament has been widely praised for its ceremonial performances while receiving attention worldwide due to its multiple dramatic and emotional series.  ( "Behind League of Legends, E-Sports's Main Attraction - NYTimes.com" )

Esports was featured at the 2018 Asian Games as a demonstration sport, meaning medals won in this sport would not be counted in the official overall medal tally. esports will be a medal event at the 2022 Asian Games. It was held from 26 August to 1 September 2018. Six video game titles were featured in the demonstration event.

This shows a few paragraphs that e-sports has emerged in the international games, the 2018 Asian games in esports although is just a trick, not included in the MEDALS table, but in the 2022 Asian games e-sports will serve as a formal event, also joined the MEDALS table, be included in the total medal count of a project.

The first reason is esports has already accepted by International Olympic Committee. A summit held by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in October 2017 acknowledged the growing popularity of esports, concluding that "Competitive 'esports' could be considered as a sporting activity.

The second reason is esports player are becoming recognized athletes. In 2013, Canadian League of Legends player Danny "Shiphtur" Le became the first pro gamer to receive an American P-1A visa, a category designated for "Internationally Recognized Athletes". In 2014, Turkey's Ministry of Youth and Sports started issuing e-Sports Player licenses to players certified as professionals. In 2016, the French government started working on a project to regulate and recognize esports.

The third reason is esports has already appeared in international sports competition. In 2018, esports appeared in the Asian Games as a sport event. Esports players from 8 different countries competed in 4 different games for 4 champions just like other sports athletes.

There are many people think that esports is playing computer games, but actually, they are different. Almost everyone knows to play computer games, but not everyone can be an esports player. We playing computer games just for fun or to reduce our pressure, but esports players play the game to win. They play the game with different battle formation, different strategy and with great cooperation in their team. For ordinary players like us we cannot do it easily.

In conclusion, esports has recognized by IOC, epsorts players are becoming recognized athletes like other athletes and esports has already appeared in international sports competition. So esports is a real sports event.
