Introduction
It is everyone’s idea that the idea to fit in situations that have been prescribed by other people can be quite overwhelming. The article in the study, delves into activism and why it is essential to come out of one’s cocoon in the fight for our rights in the pursuit of our freedom. The article in question is titled Why Activism is Good For You, and Sarah Clancy is its author. The author is a renowned performance and page poet from Galway who has written and won many awards subject to her writing.
The purpose of the essay is to raise the concern among people of the comfort that people sit in regardless of the unfavorable conditions and subsequently to give opinions on what can be done to resume the power to raise concerns over unfavorable conditions. Although the article is indulging in all the matters as involves raising awareness of activism, it is oblivious of the fact that activism is not a pill for everyone to take, and as such, there are people whose personalities do not allow them to engage in such.
Clancy begins her article by giving a disclaimer that although the site where she is writing the article is one that promotes mental health and well-being; she was going to write about activism. While this may have dissuaded readers who were seeking mental wellness, she manages to capture their attention when she writes a paragraph that is most likely going to catch the attention of readers. This she does by alluding to a common presumption that states that most people believe that the ills in the society should be left to the epitomes of virtue who are believed never to have messed up with anything.
This is a statement which the reader will feel particularly inclined towards because it is a common notion held by most people, especially in the same manner as the writer has presented it. It is important to note that the fact that the intended audience of the article were persons who do not think that they are capable enough to handle any matters as regards their rights and freedoms. These are people who do not think that they are capable of voicing out their concerns. It can also be said that given that the article was written in a site for people seeking mental wellness, it can be said that the main message was to assure that the audience was aware that they hold the key to control their fates.
