WHAT FEEDBACK SHOULD I PROVIDE MY PEERS?
Your role, as a peer reviewer, is not be the teacher or an editor—it’s to respond as an engaged reader. The best thing you can do is read their work carefully, and faithfully record your reflections. What did you find engaging or confusing about their draft? What do you wish they had included or elaborated on further? Share your feedback as an outside reader.
Since serving as a peer-review partner is often the only assignment I give you while we’re revising major assignments, I expect you to take the time to provide your peers with quality feedback.

This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeOrganization What are your initial thoughts? What strengths and weaknesses does the paper have? What parts confused you, or might be confusing to other readers? What's the most important thing that the writer is trying to say? How is the paper you're reviewing organized? Again, does it start with the broad and move to specifics? Do all sentences support the paragraph's topic sentence/claims, and do all paragraphs support the thesis? Is the paper organized in a way that will make sense to readers? Does the writer employ transitions effectively? Does the paper flow from beginning to end? |

Do the claims throughout the paper support the thesis? Does the argument build on itself, or is the thesis merely being repeated throughout the paper? Does the concluding sentence draw the argument of the paper to a close by bringing together the main points provided in the paper, or does it just end? Does the ending provide the reader with a send-off (answer the so-what question or why the topic is important to know about?) |
