West Consulting Company Introduction
Previously I have been working on network design for West Consulting firm followed by a modular design, and this week I will create an IP addressing schema. So basically, every computer in the west consulting organization must have an IP address. Followed by an IP addressing scheme is also required for communication in a computer network. The IP address will be assigned by a network administrator statically or dynamically. We choose specially trained personnel to avoid conflicts with duplicated IP addresses and to ease future network from one location to another.
Recommendations for IPv4 and IP v6 schemas for China location
So, we know that the China location is the smallest site with 30 users approximately and is considered to have the smallest number of user suiting two servers will do fine. Class C IP addresses are the best for the location with an IP address of 197.100.1.0/24. The network s will be 197.100.1.0/31 for servers VLAN and 197.100.1.0/27 for users VLAN. Below is the calculation of network prefix:
Servers VLAN: hosts bits >= log2 2
≈ 1 this means that hosts bits = 1
network bits = 32 – 1 = 31
prefix size = /31
Users VLAN: hosts bits >= log2 30 ≈ 5
hosts bits = 5
network bits = 32 – 5 =27
prefix size = /27
IPv4 table
The number of sites for West Consulting Firm will three which are Houston, Texas, and China this is as shown in the table below To find the total number of subnets that are available for each site: I took the subnet sub-mask: 255.255.225.224 and IP addresses as at 194.100.1.0 which shows that there are 8 subnets ranging from 194.100.1.0 to 192.100.1.32 meaning that there are about 40 subnets which range from 194.100.1.0 to 194.100.5.224 with more than 500 users for Houston, Texas and the new building.
This means that in each site one can add several other users.

IP V6 to integrate the two sites
Most users are currently running on IPv4, but soon we will run out of IP addresses. My recommendation for West Consulting organization is to implement IPv6 on both sites to integrate dual staking, tunneling, and proxying and translation NAT-PT or places translation mechanism on the network. The Dual stack can be con figured for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. The dual stack can also be implemented on both multiple and single interfaces.
IP Routing Protocol
There are three routing protocols characteristics purpose, operation, and behavior. Link state IP routing will fit best for west consulting organization to create a view of the organization network and all information from other sites. This is best recommended for a hierarchical enterprise design as one recommended in week one. It is also the best for a large organization such as this one with more than 1000 users. The best link state would be OSPF which is standard-based routing protocol (Cisco Systems Inc,2017).
