Improve my knowledge of hematology.

I will complete at least 25-50 APEA questions every day while focusing on the topic of hematology. I will continue completing practice questions until I achieve a score of at least 90%.

I will read the latest clinical practice guidelines that are specific to the topic of hematology and familiarize myself with recommendations for treating common hematologic disorders, such as anemia.

During my last rotation, I plan on prioritizing patients that are being treated with hematologic disorders.

I will read three evidence-based articles that are related to hematology.

The first learning activity will be started during weak one and will plan to obtain a score of 90% by week 6. The second learning activity will be completed by a week-to-week basis and would like to achieve this goal by the end of week 4. The third and fourth learning activities will be completed by the end of week 6.

Due to a lack of exposure with patients with hematologic conditions, I would like to complete several learning activities to improve my knowledge in this area.

Completing the first learning activity will improve my overall score on the APEA examination and will also prepare me for the certification examination.

Reviewing the latest clinical practice guidelines and reading evidence-based articles will allow me to treat my patients with the best evidence-based practice. Focusing on evidence-based practice will improve the quality of care given and improve patient outcomes.

Seeing patients during my clinical rotations will help me gain confidence in treating patients with hematologic problems.

I will improve my knowledge in urology.

I will read the national practice guidelines – Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Clinical Practice Guideline to improve my evaluation on treating patients with an acute kidney injury (AKI).

I will attend the family nurse practitioner (FNP) intensive review that is offered at the end of NR-667 and focus on urology during the review. While attending the review, I plan on taking thorough notes and reviewing them until I take my boards

I will review 50 APEA questions that focus on the topic of diabetic nephropathy, acute kidney injury, enuresis and renal insufficiency.

I will inform my preceptor that I would like to prioritize seeing patients with common urologic problems.

The first learning activity will be achieved by week 5. The second learning activity will be achieved during week 7 of NR-667. The 3rd and 4th learning activities will be started during week one and will be achieved by week 5.

I have a lack of clinical experience and would like more exposure to patients with urologic conditions. After gaining more experience, my goal is to be able to discern the differences in different urologic conditions.

Improving my knowledge in urology by reviewing national practice guidelines will ensure that I have the ability to treat patients with urologic concerns as a nurse practitioner.

Attending the intensive review at the end of NR-667 will help prepare me for APEA examination and certification exam to become a family nurse practitioner. My goal is to pass the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) boards after my first attempt.

I will review three national practice guidelines every week to improve my knowledge in diagnosing patients appropriately.

I will search for upcoming webinars that offers informative sessions on how to appropriately diagnose patients as a family nurse practitioner.

I have not had enough women’s health encounters during my clinical rotation.

Attending a women’s health webinar will increase the skills that I have as a novice nurse practitioner, which will improve my clinical practice.

Understanding common scenarios by doing practice questions will increase my knowledge in treating women.

Knowledge will be obtained after reading case studies that pertain to women’s health conditions, which will benefit my practice as a nurse practitioner.

Reviewing the certification textbook will increase my understanding on women’s health topics which will increase my overall score on the APEA and certification examination.

I will improve my knowledge in dermatology.

I will attend a dermatology webinar.

I will work with my preceptor and identify my weaknesses and focus on treating patients with dermatologic problems.

I will read at least 5 medical journal articles related to dermatology.

I will attend the certification review that is offered at the end of NR-667 to increase my knowledge in dermatologic concerns.

The first learning activity will be achieved by the end of week 8. The second and third learning activities will be achieved during week five. The last learning activity will be achieved during week seven.

Attending a dermatology webinar will improve my awareness on common skin issues seeing in a primary care setting. Dermatology is a weakness that I have and would like to spend additional time reviewing this topic. I would like to be able to discern different skin conditions based on the patient’s presentation.

Lack of exposure during my previous clinical rotations have been a huge disadvantage. I would like to discuss my weaknesses with my current preceptors to improve my confidence in treating patients with dermatologic concerns.

Lack of understanding on the topic will benefit from reading at least five medical journals, which will increase my understanding on dermatology.

Attending the certification review will prepare me to be successful on the APEA examination.
