The readings from chapter one within our book has quite some in depth looks into how the world came about and the life forms that started to thrive. Once man started to come about our book talks about how different humans are compared to other complex life on Earth. A major difference is the ability that humans are able to have complex thoughts in not just the use of tools, hunting and agriculture but the creation of art.
By painting on cave walls these early humans were able to really develop a form of art never used before. We can understand that the pictures in these cave paintings were of animals, families even food's other than animals that were hunted or domesticated. These painting tell us different stories that are interpreted many ways. Some may have been the animals that were hunted showing other humans animals that were easy to hunt maybe even some animals that were more dangerous.
Some of the cave paintings could even be interpreted as showing a new way of life that was possibly even observed from afar and not necessarily what some of these tripes were doing. One thing we cannot know for sure is what exactly these painting were meant for but we do know what the pictures depicted and the kind of lives they were living in these early ages.
Cave paintings could have even been used as a form of social means telling stories or decompressing stress from the day. Many stories and descriptions can be depicted due to the paintings that man continues to find of our early ancestors but we may never exactly know the exact stories and reasons behind this early form or art.

I chose to analyze 2 murals from the Catal Hoyuk because so far nobody else has posted here, plus the name Catal Hoyuk sounds kind of fun to me.
Anyways, the first mural that I analyzed is Catal Hoyuk Figurative mural #8. I had to view the transcription because I cannot tell anything from the original. At first glance my first thought was animals being killed by Indians. Of course, we are not talking about the Indians, but that is what first came to my mind. Nevertheless, animals being killed by people with bows and arrows and maybe even the animals being skinned by a curved sharp object. I can see the people holding the bows and some of the animals are colored white over parts of the body which to me indicates they have been skinned. I think this type of mural is representative type of mural. The reason is when they did this mural they wanted to show one way in which the obtained materials for clothes and shelter, possibly even food although you don’t see any indications of meat on the mural. The animals hide can be used for clothing and perhaps as sort of insulation for their shelter.
I had a hard time deciding on which mural to analyze second. I couldn’t really grasp any of the Patterned murals so I went with another Figurative, number 10. This one had me thinking for a few minutes. The shapes with the horizontal stripes might be something like mountain ranges and the empty spaces in between would be the flat grounds. I see headless human portraits with what looks like some kind of animal nearby. They could be some kind of large flying bird that is attacking the humans and taking their heads off. I don’t see any indication of blood, but that is all I can come up with. Again, I believe this mural to be representational mural. This represents some of the dangers of being out in the open for humans. They are prey to some of the large flying birds and the birds kill them by taking their heads off.
