Don Lindberg was the recipient of the 1997 Morris F. Collin Award. This is given to individuals in the field for the lifetime achievement and contributions to the discipline of medical informatics. Don Lindberg developed applications to improve the speed and quality and consistency of laboratory results and reporting. He was the first person in the world to computerize healthcare information and is considered an expert in informatics in computer medicine (Masys,2022).
Don Lindberg identified a system inefficiency and took it upon himself to improve the system. He did this to increase the quality of patient care and to help save lives. This is the characteristic I would love to develop more in myself. I decided to make a career in public health so I could make real change in the world we live in. I try to look for ways to improve my own work and one of my goals in life is to make a real difference in the lives of the people around me. Don Lindberg found a flaw in the way health information was being processed and created the health information systems we use today. The improvement we make now will impact the future of healthcare.

Marion Ball was the winner of the 2002 Morris F. Collen Award, which is awarded to the pioneers who best show the teachings of Morris F. Collen. Marion Ball worked to bridge gaps between groups of people. Marion Ball published multiple books to teach people what computers were and how to use them. She later became the program chair for the International Medical Informatics Association for their first conference. She taught that technology enables humans towards success. She then went on to work with the integrated information management systems initiative to prove its success. She was successful in her field for many years, and stressed the relationship between humanity and technology (AMIA Informatics, 2012).
Marion Ball was extremely hardworking, and grew with the world around her. She was a pioneer because she helped shape the way we understand health informatics systems today, as well as helped develop the International Medical Informatics Association. I would love to develop this hardworking attitude and vigor Marion Ball exemplified. Marion Ball was also applauded for her humanity and kindness, and that is something I would hope to show off in my own professional career. Lastly, Marion Ball did not wait for others to publish the knowledge she had, but rather she shared her knowledge with the world. One day, I hope I can learn enough to become and expert in a subject and teach others in the way Marion Ball was able to.
The job Health Information Exchange Technical Manager ( https://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=digital+health&rbc=Deloitte&jcid=9e215d88a6b33622&vjk=c39c615a85a25f1c) is a current job that I have never heard of before. In this position, the applicant would create solutions to problems in health IT, as well as find gaps in current processes to find solutions to them. This job would require an applicant to pioneer new ways of thinking, as the current ways of thinking would be leaving gaps in the implementation and utilization of these technologies. Using the teachings of Marion Bell, the applicant should remember the relationship between humanity and technology to create a system that users will be able to utilize easily, but that still answers the questions left by current systems. Like Marion Ball, applicants would also need to create training documentation to allow everyone equal access to the knowledge the applicant possesses.
