How can the burden of unintentional injuries in toad traffic accidents be lowered in low/middle-income countries?

With traffic accidents being so high in low- and middle-income countries, reducing road traffic accidents can be costly.  With over 1,100 road traffic accidents and transport injuries in 2010 (Skolnik, 2016).  The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that the cost of road traffic injuries was about 65-100 billion in low- and middle-income countries alone.  The Haddon Matrix has been used focusing on education, enforcement, and engineering however focusing on enforcement such as speed limits, motorcycle helmet laws, etc. need tailoring and a multidisciplinary approach to avoid accidents.  The most economic way to assist in lowering these accidents can be by adding speed bumps and enforce speed limits and helmet laws, however corruption in police forces in many countries can be a challenging task to overcome.                  Overcoming multiple challenges such as these mentioned can be an overwhelming task to achieve, but with different sectors working together such as public health, police, and government it can be achieved at lower costs.  Educating the public about hazards of the road, limiting hours for commercial driving, as well as implementing speed limits can be achievable.

Unfortunately, refugees come in all ages.  If I had funding to provide security for two issues in refugee camps, I would focus on education for both children and adults, as well as allowing refugees to obtain working visas in order for them to be able to earn an income.  According to Paani, a nonprofit organization, refugee camps are far from ideal places to live leading many refugees to be economically disadvantaged and unable to support their families (Subzwari, 2020).  Eventually, we expect children refugees to grow up to become model citizens, but by not continuing their education, refugee camps are robing children of a future.  Similarly, adults need to be able to provide for their families, therefore, a steady income is ideal.  Funds would be used to provide refugee camps with building structures in a comfortable environment with the necessary school supplies in hopes that having those things would make it more appealing for teachers to volunteer to work with refugee children.  Furthermore, one of the many reason refugees end up in refugee camps is because they spent their last dime trying to escape their home, when giving them an opportunity to apply for a visa sounds much more reasonable.  Amnesty International proposes providing a safe route for refugees to reach safety by giving them visas so they don’t spend their life savings and risk drowning in the process (8 ways to solve the world refugee crisis. Amnesty International, n.d.).  I believe these two issues are the most important and should be addressed in an aggressive manner.

There are for sure so many health problems we face globally. I feel the most important one is the access to safe clean drinking water. I feel this is an important issue because so many people globally lack access to safe water. This causes so many illnesses and deaths that could eaily be avoided. Not only do people lack clean water to drink but to also cook with and to have proper hygiened. Eating food that was made with dirty water can lead to illness as well as not having proper hygiene can lead to illnesses. "There’s nothing more essential to life on earth than water. Yet, from Cape Town to  Flint, Michigan , and from rural, sub-Saharan Africa to Asia’s teeming megacities, there’s a global water crisis. People are struggling to access the quantity and quality of water they need for drinking, cooking, bathing, handwashing, and growing their food." 785 million people lack access to clean water. That’s one in 10 people on the planet. Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day. The average woman in rural Africa walks 6 kilometers every day to haul 40 pounds of water. Every day, more than 800 children under 5 die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices. 2 billion people live without access to  adequate sanitation . 673 million people defecate in the open. (World Vision 2021) All of these things could be avoided if everyone around the globe had access to water. To solve this problem would take a lot of effort from everyone around the world. There are already many organizations that work hard to help solve this problem. Things such as boreholes or hand pump wells have been placed in certain regions that are affected the most. To help in this I would work with these organizations to continue the efforts of getting everyone safe water. Educating more people and raising awareness on the issue would also be important. The more people that are aware and understand the magnitude of this problem the better chance we have of getting more people involved in helping  solve the problem. Harvesting rainwater and building more hand pump wells for areas in need is a great way to help.
