ESSENTIALS OF EVIDENCED-BASED PRACTICE

OCTOBER 30, 2020.

The organization offers patient-centered care which is of high quality, service, and access.

We always keep ourselves updated so that our organization is able to apply and develop.

Grace healthcare organization seeks diversity in our employees and value their ability to improve patient communication.

Since healthcare system is predicted to undergo changes my organization is ready to adapt to the new changes.

ORGANIZATIONS CULTURE

In our organization we offer patient-centered care, always keep ourselves updated on the latest practices, practices staff diversity and we are ready to adapt to new change.

2

Despite the implementation of a new healthcare system the organization has been experiencing issues which require some changes.

Most of the employees in the organization perceive that they are ready for any change that will take place (Amarneh, 2017).

Most of the employee in the facility are ready to apply evidence-based strategy and advanced practices.

CHANGE OPPORTUNITY

Other than the implementation of new healthcare system our organization has been experiencing issues which requires changes. Most of the employees are ready to apply evidence based strategy and advanced practices.

3

Change in the organization may lead to negative outcomes such as reduced employee commitment.

Lack of proper change management may lead to poor organization growth and transformation dynamics.

If the organization does not consider their culture during the transformation period the process may fail.

RISK ASSOCIATED WITH CHANGE IMPLEMENTATION

Some of the risks that may arise due to implementing changes is negative outcomes such as reduced employee commitment, poor organization growth, and transformation period may fail

4

As a member of the facility I would propose implementation of Hopkins nursing evidence-based practice model.

This model enables fast and appropriate use of latest research as well as best practices.

Through implementing this the organization will be able to simplify EBP process and motivate a culture of evidence based care.

EVIDENCE-BASED IDEA PROPOSAL

An evidence-based practice that I would propose for the organization is the Hopkin nursing evidence-based model since this model enables fast and appropriate application of latest research as well as best practices and simplify EBP activities.

5

Some of the steps which are involved in the Hopkin model include:

Evidence

Practice question

Translation

This evidence based model is a tool that will assist care providers in the organization to work personally as well as in collaboration with other care providers to address the issues at hand.

EVIDENCE-BASED IDEA PROPOSAL

Hopkin nursing evidence-based practice has three steps which are evidence, practice question, and translation. This model helps physicians in the organization to work personally and collaborate with other physicians to counter major issues.

6

The organization will have a problem-solving strategy for care provision that integrates diligence to the current best practices.

There will be increased patient safety and better health outcomes (Black et al 2015).

Some of the barriers that prevent use of current research evidence will be eliminated.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

The expected outcome after implementing the Hopkin model is that the organization will be able to have problem-solving strategies, increased patient safety and positive health outcome.

7

The peer reviewed articles in the critical appraisal all involve evidence-based research in different organizations.

In all the four peer reviewed articles there is best practices that emerge in research articles such as high quality patient care.

The peer reviewed articles also show that evidence-based practices improve patients health outcome.

SUMMARY OF CRITICAL APPRAISAL

8

No matter the preferred model evidence-based research should how a problem was recognized, analyzed, and strategies of how to improve the problem.

Through conducting evidence-based research clinicians will be able to understand current issues more comprehensively.

LESSON LEARNED FROM THE CRITICAL APPRAISAL

From the critical appraisal I have come to understand that through the evidence-based research care providers are able to understand problems better, and the evidence based model shows how a problem is recognized, analyzed, and provides strategies for solving a problem,

According to the clinical appraisal of the learning resources the initiatives of different scholars on similar topics are different but upon carrying out research in backing up claims, results tends to follow similar trends. Example in Philip et al., (2019)., the research combined the effects of both electroconvulsive therapy ECT and Ketamine using clinical control trials to verify effectiveness and efficacy. The claims went on that both were effective but one will compensate the lapses of the other.

CRITICAL APPRAISAL RESULTS AND KNOWLEDGE GAINED

Example, the therapeutic usage and efficacy of IV Ketamine is convincing but might still not be tolerable for some patients like Brest feeding mother or during post partum depression, because this are the medications that will cross the brain barriers and the placenta, but the results also last longer. However, the ECT doesn’t have to through pharmacodynamics absorption before controlling major depression either with bipolar or uni-polar. My own claim is to make sure if one of this will be the treatment of choice, the psychiatrist should have to disclose and discuss all open options and chose the treatment based on the patient’s preference.
