Clineesha Murray

Hello Dr. Smith and Class,

After looking at the video Marty is having some issues with conveying his thoughts, statements and ideas. In order for Mary to improve these things he will experience counterproductive communication. The fact that he is having some issues conveying what has taken place and how he feels is not helping him much because its harder for other people to understand the issues he is having. When it come to Mary nonverbal behaviors would be most helpful. "Nonverbal cues, which serve to confirm or deny messages conveyed verbally, are in large part beyond the conscious answers of participants."(Direct social work practice: Theory and skills) The nonverbal communication that Mary needs to work on his eye contact and facial expressions they can show how you are feeling.

One of the first steps I would do to ensure that Marty was heard non verbal cues, paying close attention , eye contact, and facial expressions. also always be inviting so others feel welcome and want to share the experiences. Regarding verbal communication I would make sure to repeat vital information and ask to remain on the topic to show interest.

Verbal and nonverbal communication are very important when it comes to planning measurable goals and what makes it easier to determine what the goals should be and how the clients believes and will achieve them.

Best Regards,

Clineesha
