1. Week 1 topic: What is leadership?
I believe one should know what leader they choose to be and how best to lead someone if
they were over them. Leadership is knowing how best to influence individual social, which
helps to maximize the effort of them by driving to achieve the organization's goals (Kruse,
2013). Leadership is the talent of the skill learned through training and experience over time.
Therefore, using this method as work helps me to lead people in the path, which meet my
office goals.

2. Week 2 topic Are leaders born or made?
Some people were born to become leaders, while others had to learn by experiences and
training over time. According to an article in Forbes, "Are leaders born or made" (2012). Some
people are born leaders, while others as to be trained. Some people are at the top of the
leadership bell curve and start their careers on a good note and keep developing and
improving them, self as they climb up the bell. On the other hand, there are people at the
bottom of the bell curve; no matter how hard they try, they can never become good leaders
(Andersen, 2012). I believe I had to learn how to become a leader. That's one of the
requirements for my job. My job actually sends you to school to teach and train you on how to
lead.

4. Week 4 topic Leading the four generations at work
The Millennials or Generation Ys are the people who were raise-having access to the internet
and see more increase in terrorism worldwide. In my line of work, most of the people I work
with are Millennials and Generation Ys (Jenkins, 2019). They must work harder to deal with
the cause. They seem to always be on their phones, always wanting to know why something is
happening and do not listen. They want to do as they please and not wanting anyone to give
those orders, and they do not like to follow directions.

5. Week 5 topic Why leaders lose their way
The dark side of leadership some leaders reach the top by imposing their ideas on others and
are willing to take down anyone in their way. They believe people are out to get them to reach
the top; people are trying to knock out their position. These leaders drive so hard for
perfection and hide their failures. If confronted for some reason, they convince themselves if
there is a problem, it is not their fault or their responsibility and looks for someone else to
blame on. They often use their power, charisma, and communication skills, to get people to
accept their ways (George, 2011). I once had a manager like this, and he would lie out his
teeth, not when he was wrong. Some times when we have met, other soldiers would call him
out, and he would get mad, walk away, and try to write up that solider, but most time, it never
went anywhere. I tend to stay away from people like that because the one will lie on you and
make you lose your position or job. I need my job just like the next person. Therefore I stay
out of the way of those individuals.

6. Week 6 topic Authentic Leadership- To thine own self be true
I like the topic of Authentic Leadership is explains how these types of leaders behave when
they enable trust at all times. They seemly take ownership of things when the mistake made or
when they have to share duties when given. They always try to encourage and push people
under them to get the best result or question their leadership chain if there is can they that
they need to know of the organization (The Insights Group Ltd, 2014). I believe I am that kind
of leader. I will stand by anyone I am over and ensure they are good at all times. Because what
I think a great leader should do.

7. Week 7 topic The culture or the leader?
According to the article, "The culture or the leader" (n. d.). Culture is a system of values,
morals, beliefs, and behaviors that shows how people work in an organization. When the
organizational culture in line with business strategy, employees act and behave accordingly to
achieve the business goals. The leader’s duty to maintain the actions and decisions of the
company's culture through values and beliefs to enables the execution of a strategy (Deloitte,
n. d.). I believe both culture and leader go hand in hand in any organization to meet the
missions and the goals of that company. At my place of duty, we sue both. We have people
from all around the world and having different lifestyles working, and we are leaders who just
a leader to the best of their abilities and hopeful every day goes by high for them without any
issues.

Definitely, week 5 because those lessons I learned that week taught me what
kind of leader I should not be. And with feedback from my peers and
soldiers, I will become the best leader I can. I did also enjoy doing this class
because it forces me to read what is given weekly and not just to go online
and find anything without reading through all contents.

Hello Tasheion,
Thank you for sharing a good post. Lots of interesting information was covered in
your thread. I enjoyed the information, that was covered in a week one. In my
opinion, to be a good leader, it is vital to understand the basics of leadership
concepts. Leadership is not the title or the position within the organization (Kruse,
2013, para. 3-6). Leadership is a specific process, where one person should be able
to influence, motivate, inspire, create a vision, possesses a right set of leadership
competencies, values, knowledge, ethics, morals, and skills (Aldrin & Gayatri, 2014
para.1).

Indeed it is vital to know the types of leadership skills they are and the type
of leadership skill one wants to use. It is important that the management
team in the position to lead help the employees work to their full potential in
order to reach the organization's goals.

I thought that being an authentic leader was the most impactful leadership style (The Insights Group Ltd, 2014). Having the trust of your employees is one of the biggest buy-ins one as a leader can gain. When your employees trust you they will produce and work hard to help achieve the goal.

Hi Tasheion,
In relation to your response on week 2, I could use that information in my career to
further my understanding that I can be trained to be a leader, as can anyone. In
regards to your statement that not everyone can be a leader - what types of people
are you talking about? When you made that statement, I pictured someone who is
shy, afraid to say how they feel, not one to speak up and give orders, etc. Would
you agree?

In my opinion and what I have read good leaders come naturally and have
with experiences. One could say you can develop talent to be great and lead,
but on the other hand, for some, it just not their cup of tea. I have a sergeant
who is shy, and smooth but she is a great leader. So I believe it is just who
you are as a person.
