The benefits of using assigned devices in the hospital setting is good because this allows for everyone that is using those devices to be on a secure network for sharing information. This also allows everyone to share the same contact information when needing to search for each person they are needing to contact.
Some of the downsides to using devices in the hospital is the lack of security that can be potentially done in many different ways. Hand-held devices are used in many hospitals to assist with communication. With the increased development of communication technology, there has also been an increase in problems that are encountered with this type of communication (for example, hackers, viruses, multitasking, and information overload) (Finkelman, A. (2019).
I personally think that companies should have all devices for nurses to use when it comes to communication needs. If work requires us to have one then we should all be on the same system and they should be willing to provide us with that equipment to use. If they want people to use their personal phones via app then the company should be willing to help reimburse those people when their monthly bill comes since they are required to use their own device and risk damaging it or possibly increasing a person’s bill by using apps that could cost that person money.
