Opiate Abuse and Child Protective Services
In a study completed by Banda et al (2008), it was found that CPS made contact with 61% of opiate addicted women in the United States.
As the rate of opiate abuse increases, so does CPS involvement (Kory, 2006).
Substance abuse issues can span several generations. Children born to drug addicted have an increased risk of developing illness such as depression and anxiety (Caraveo-Anduaga, 2005). These children are also have an increased risk of having substance abuse issues later on in life (Leventhal, Pettit & Lewinsohn,2005).

-Cognitive Behavioral Support Groups- group focus initiated toward the change of the thought process
Mezzo Level Implications
-Through skill development, interpersonal relationships and adjustments can be progressively cased through interaction with the client, family and close familiar relationships as well as in the group process.
