Space Race

It was after the 2nd world war, now the US and the Soviet Union friendship against Nazi German had turned out to enmity. US and Soviet Union battlefield was the final frontier during the cold war, the power of advanced nuclear bombs made it dangerous to fight. Space race was an alternative war without bloodshed and was to boast technological advancement. US and USSR focused on stars and started a new race of reign in the space. Space race was an expensive project worth billions, employed many and enabled humankind to tour the moon. Space race was to enable astronauts to monitor earth resources. Both US and USSR were interested in space race to observe and control earth resources.

The majority of Americans support the forefront leadership of space exploration in the world. Space race is a beneficial investment whereby the future of US space exploration lies in the hands of NASA despite private companies investing in space exploration. 72% of the Americans are in support of the US forefront line in space exploration. 80% of the Americans view space exploration station as a good investment for America. The current space exploration has transformed since the Second World War whereby some other countries like China and India have joined as international players in space exploration. Private companies like SpaceX are playing a major role in space exploration. 66% of American citizens support NASA to continue leading space exploration while 33% observe that private investors are worth ensuring progress in space race exploration even without NASA being involved.

Despite the huge costs of sending robots and human beings to explore space and other solar system celestial bodies, there are also numerous benefits. Generally speaking, the derived benefits are intangible. Space explorations lead to advancement in scientific knowledge, people's inspiration and expansion of the current frontiers. We have numerous problems here on earth such as hunger, climate change, high population, and underdevelopment. The challenges we are facing are enough and they necessitate space exploration to establish whether there are other humans in the other planets. The major benefit of space exploration is that it makes it easy to study earth from space. The earth study has added more knowledge on the study of earth's climate and weather and the ability to measure their impacts on human beings. It also brought a clear understanding that the earth is single and self-regulating. Despite the money that could have been spent to feed the hungry, alleviating poverty, addressing climate change is being spent on space exploration which has unseen benefits we still fund space exploration because spending money on better science does not mean very little will be left for economic development.

There are several ventures in which space exploration is done by NASA to benefit the general Americans. They include environmental and agricultural resources, health and medicine, transportation, consumer goods and public safety, computer technology, and industrial advancement. In 1982 astronauts in Lunar wore liquid-cooled garments in their space to protect them from temperatures of about 250 Fahrenheit degrees. These garments were more advanced by NASA and have adaptations to treat medical ailments like a burning limb, spinal injuries, and injuries during sports. Space exploration technology is credited for reduced inhalation injuries advancement. Technology which was used to service aircraft was used to develop a mechanical arm that can enable surgeons to operate three instruments ponce when doing laparoscopic surgery. Later NASA designed a cheap ballistic parachute system that would lower an entire system of an aircraft when there are emergencies. These parachutes are now widely used by police, pilot and passengers to provide a safe landing in a case of engine failure. NASA advanced technology invented a system that can monitor and test food poisoning this was to help astronauts from the moon not to eat poisoned food. Later the idea was applied in food processing for the benefit of Americans to lower cases of salmonellas.

Earth greatly benefits from space exploration technology mainly; climate monitoring and weather observation from the space whereby it can have accurate weather predictions for our daily benefit. It is also possible to observe resource endowment on earth which aids in giving relevant information to support agricultural production. Forest management, fisheries management and illegal activities like bush fire and logging. It has advanced education on steam education in which a healthy space inspires both young and old on discoveries and frontiers. There are other benefits like freeze fried foods, cordless power tools, It has also brought numerous benefits in agriculture particularly the intensive organic agriculture. It has also led to space mining which is relatively cheap as compared to placing mining structures on earth. This will be used to mine valuable minerals for construction like iron and might lead to the extraction of other valuable minerals as by-products. It is of importance to the world as it will be used to place data centers underwater since they consume high amounts of electricity and need to be placed in cooler areas. Space technology is used by the world to establish space solar power. The unfiltered sunlight by the earth in the space can shine more.

There is a race to space particularly by the developed nations. It is very expensive to land a robot or person on the space and therefore it remains a mission to the developed nations.
