Psychology week 7 assignment 2
Week 7 Assignment
Objective:
Social psychology is full of concepts that are relevant to your life and future career. As we’ve talked about before, the most valuable knowledge you’re gaining this semester is your ability to apply the concepts you’ve been learning about and to recognize when they’re happening right in front of you. This paper allows you to make those applications toward something very important in your life: your career.
What to do:
For this assignment, you will choose four social psychological concepts from anything that we talked about throughout the entire course (this can also include Week 8 topics) and write a 5 page paper (minimum; double-spaced, 12-pt font) describing how each concept might apply to your career. In your paper, you should be sure to first explain what your current and your intended career is (if you would like to be changing careers with your graduate degree). Define each social psychological concept (see next paragraph for citation expectations). Each concept should be defined in its own paragraph, one sentence is not sufficient to demonstrate understanding of a concept. Remember that your four social psychological concepts must be relatively specific (e.g., “helping” is too broad, but “the bystander effect” is appropriate). After defining each concept, describe and clearly explain how it is relevant in your current or future career (e.g., being aware of how self-fulfilling prophecies affect kids and how you can avoid it as an elementary school counselor). At least two concepts must apply to your current career (unless you are not working); two concepts can apply to your future career. Feel free to be creative!
How to do in-text citations:
When defining your concepts, you must paraphrase the definition in your own words without using quotation marks and you must include an in-text citation in parentheses that indicates where you got the definition. In-text citations must be APA format. You should include a reference section with a minimum of 10 citations.
Professionalism in writing:
Please write your papers with care. You must include a cover page and submit an APA formatted paper that is professional in writing style. Begin with an introduction paragraph and end with a conclusion paragraph. Use APA style formatted headings. Write full sentences and organize your sentences into paragraphs. Use proper spelling and grammar, and proofread your paper before submitting it to check for typos. Please also consider submitting to the Graduate Writing Studio for review prior to submission.
