Week 7: Forum Assignments

Student Topics and Questions

Each week you are required to actively participate in the Student Topics and Questions area of the Discussion Forum by midnight Saturday. This can be:

Introducing at least one additional conversation related to this week's learning outcomes. This can be a comment about this week's topics or a question you have.

Responding to questions posted by your classmates in the Week 7 Forum, if you know the answer.

Posting a meaningful reply within a conversation thread started by another student.

Replies must go beyond "good post" or "I agree". Your reply must add something substantive to the conversation.

Discussion Questions

Question 1:

By midnight Thursday, post an answer to the following discussion question:

Choose either the selection sort or the bubble sort.

Demonstrate the sort algorithm as follows:

Start with a random, unordered list of at least EIGHT elements.

Show step by step how the list will be re-arranged into sorted order. For each pass:

Detail all comparisons and swaps that occur.

State which element is in the correct location at the end of the pass.

NOTE: Your example must be unique from any other example presented.

Post your answer to the Week 7 Forum under the Discussion Question 1 topic.

Question 2:

By midnight Thursday, post an answer to the following discussion question:

Choose either the insertion sort or the shell sort.

Demonstrate the sort algorithm as follows:

Start with a random, unordered list of at least TEN elements.

Show step by step how the list will be re-arranged into sorted order.
