Week 7 Discussion Critical Thinking

Please respond to the following:

· Imagine you are interviewing for a job you really want and the interviewer asks you the following: “Explain a specific example in which you used critical thinking problem-solving strategies to solve a problem in the real world.”

· What will be your answer to the question?

· Choose one classmate’s own response to the interviewer’s question. If you are a job coach, what suggestions would you make to maximize your classmate’s answer to the interview question?

· Be sure to respond to classmates’ posts.

One example that i could use is when I had just lost my job and I my rent was coming up. I didn't know what to do it was really hard. Being a single mother made it hard for me to mange everything. But I got my plans together and made a way. I really used my critical thinking skills to figure out how I was really going to mange my life. Overall, ive accomplished a lot of things starting off on a bad start

Week 8 Discussion Critical Thinking

Consider the following quote by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, who believed that thought without language was impossible: “The limits of my language are the limits of my life.” For more information on Wittgenstein and his analysis on the importance of language, watch the video Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889 – 1951) The Limits of Language .

Please respond to the following:

· Examine whether it is possible to think without using language.

· If you believe it is possible, describe the primary ways in which a person might enact so-called languageless thinking.

· If you believe it is not possible, describe what you foresee as major problems with "languageless" thinking.

Be sure to respond to your classmates’ posts.

Hello everyone,

Yes, I think it is possible to communicate without using language. I hope I'm answering this discussion right, but if a person cannot speak or use sign language they would still be able to think. Before sign language was invented people still had to find a way to get their thoughts communicated to other people. A person that has cerebral palsy usually can't communicate language and state how they feel, but when you communicate with them sometimes you can tell that they understand what you are saying. Another example could be an individual that is in a bedridden state where they can't talk or move there arms. They would have to think of a way to communicate, maybe by moving their eyes or performing head movements when asked. Either way your thinking is done with your brain and just because you can't communicate with using language doesn't mean you can't think about what's going on.

Thank you,
