The two topics that I chose to discuss is the Social Security Act and The Homeowner Loan Act, but to find out how these programs came about we must know about the New Deal. The United States was dealing with the Great Depression currently. Banks were in crisis and there were numerous people unemployed. Wages declines as well as work production. President Roosvelt aimed to provide immediate economic relief and bring reforms to help stabilized the economy (Britannica, T. Editors of Encyclopedia 2022). The Social Security Act was based on general welfare for the older generation so they can have an income once they retire and enabling more states to be able to make adequate provision for disabled child and adults, child welfare and maternal mothers as well. This program also supplied insurance for low income or disabled children and family. 

The Homeowners Loan Act was government mortgages that allowed people to keep their homes (OpenStax 2022). This Act was to provide immediate relief to people to be able to refinance their homes to be able to extend the homeowners the time they can stay in their home, so they won’t have to get kicked out.  These laws were immediate relief for immigrants, African Americans, and workers. There can work in better conditions and be able to make a decent amount of money. There can have insurance so if they get sick, they can do to the doctor and not have an expensive bill to have to pay off. The New Deal really supported the American people in all aspects. Not all his programs were effective, and many generated significant criticisms. Overall, however, these programs helped to stabilize the economy, restore confidence, and change the pessimistic mindset that had overrun the country (OpenStax 2022).
