How does the concept of Modeling & Role Modeling apply to nursing?

The Modelling and Role Modelling Theory guides nurses on how to attend to each patient with the full awareness that the patient is a unique individual. It is in line with all other theories that emphasize the patient’s needs being the focal point of the delivery of healthcare. This theory draws from a couple of sources, including Erikson’s Theory of Psychological Stages, Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development, Maslow’s Theory of the Hierarchy of Needs, and the Seyle and Lazarus’ General Application Syndrome (Erickson, 2017).

According to this theory, modeling refers to the process by which nurses identify a patient’s model of their world, as they also appreciate the value it offers and its significance. Modeling identifies the patient’s unique perspective of their world. The nurse relies on this process to understand this unique perspective of the patient’s world.

Role modeling on the other hand is the process through which nurses facilitate and nurture their patients in a bid to enable them to attain, maintain, and promote health. It calls for the unconditional acceptance of the patient and also calls for the nurses to come up with unique interventions to the patients’ problems. According to this concept, the patient is viewed as the expert in their care process, and he or she knows how she should be assisted in the best possible manner.

This theory presents nurses with three key roles, which are facilitation, nurturance, and unconditional acceptance. Nurses fulfill the facilitation role through the provision of the right resources and information, to enable the patient to take the right steps towards the improvement of health. They fulfill the nurturing role by ensuring that patient is well taken care of and that they are comfortable. In unconditional acceptance, the nurses are expected to accept the patients without any conditions.

How would the Theory of Integral Nursing benefit our community?

The Theory of Integral Nursing helps with the strengthening of the development of knowledge, as well as the creation of an understanding of the nursing metaparadigm, and the patterns of knowing (Dossey, 2015). This way, healthcare is delivered from a holistic point of view, instead of the healthcare providers picking on certain elements of their patients’ existence to determine the best intervention. Approaching healthcare from this perspective enhances the quality of care, that is offered based on a deeper level of understanding about knowing, doing, and being.

Nursing Theories

The modeling and role-modeling theory is based on the philosophy that all people or humans desire to live happy lives, healthy lives, find purpose and meaning in their lives, and be the most that they can. This theory enables nurses to care for every patient with awareness of as well as respect for the uniqueness of people(Patricia Darlene Lamb, 2017). This theory provides a wide theoretical perspective on nursing care and implies that nurses should use personal approaches to clients through identifying their needs and effectively addressing them. This theory also addresses the concepts of leadership ad implies that successful nurse leaders must build trust in their followers and abide by several principles that support the professional development of the followers. The theory mainly explains abstract concepts, and it reflects on the philosophical understanding of nursing.

This theory applies to nursing as it guides nurses on how they care for their clients. This theory recognizes every client as a person that has a unique perception of their world. Through understanding this, the nurse can create a comprehensive view of how the client perceives their world and also their role in this world Masters, K. (2015). Role modeling is when the nurse implements their understanding of the client's uniqueness to provide care successfully. This theory describes health as not only the disease absence or sickness but also the state of balance between mental, physical, and social wellbeing. This theory enables nurses to know the variables that are common among people like basic needs, holism, and others while also identifying the distinctions that exist from one individual to the other. This is very important in the endeavor of nursing to nature, facilitate and unconditional acceptance of the individual and their health care needs.

The theory of integral nursing is a comprehensive and contemporary way of organizing phenomena of concern to nurses. This theory is designed to complement principles of human caring and healing as well as holistic nursing. This theory presents the art and science of nursing. It addresses a unity consciousness that accepts all that with compassion and respect (Nursology, 2020). The model is related to the complexity of wholeness and how to concurrently address the wellbeing and health of nurses, the patients, communities, and families, as well as the healthcare system. The theory includes the world perspective and the nurse’s role in collectively shaping a healthy globe.

As the theory addresses the wellbeing of all people, this is of benefit to the community as the people in the society are giving a chance to live a healthy life and thus a healthy community. The theory of integral nursing has a concept of healing which is a process of integrating aspects of oneself, community, and family at more profound levels of harmony, bringing about integration and balance. It also has the health promotion concept, which includes activities and preventive measures in promoting the health of individuals, communities, and society. This theory is of huge benefit to the community as it promotes a healthy community indifferent ways. As the theory brings amore open vision of the nurse-client relationships, it helps enhance care in the community as a good relationship between patient and care provider results in health outcomes.

The Concept of Modeling and Role Modeling in Nursing

Through the disposition of modeling and role modeling, nurses can easily nature and care for the needs of their patients while acknowledging the discrepancies and distinctiveness that exist on different people. The theory allows practising nurses to be conscious of the standard variables, such as necessities and holism. It also allows nurses to identify the differences exhibited from one individual to another, such as stress, adaptation behaviour, and self care. According to (Dossey 2020), this theory is essential in Nursing practice as it facilitates the unconditional acceptance of an individual and their health care necessities. This theory puts forward that nursing objectives are promoting and affirming an individual strength, establishing joint health oriented goals, encouraging an individual to have a positive control and orientation about themselves, and ultimately building trust. Dossey (2020) further notes that through modeling and role modeling, nurses can comprehend the world of patients while remodeling comprises nursing interventions that emphases on unconditional acceptance. Conclusively, it can be said that modeling and role modeling is based on the notion that all individuals have the desire to be happy, live healthy and find some meaning in their lives.

Theory of Integral Nursing and its Benefit to the Community

Researchers have alluded that the theory of critical nursing can mold the practice of nursing into promoting a healthy world. This theory is based on the philosophy of an integrated worldview (Dossey, 2020). For that reason, this theory is important to the community as it attempts to elucidate that healing is an inherent process in all creatures which may happen with curing symptoms, and it also helps the community to understand that every person has an energy field that connects which forms the wholeness of human kind.

The Theory of Integral Nursing to clinical practice

The Theory of Integral Nursing to clinical practice has a lot of consequences and benefits as applied to pain management to clients. A number of these consequences and benefits are presented as analyzed. Theory of integral Nursing to clinical practice has a benefit of bridging open vision for the nurse-client relationship especially relating to the roles performed by each partner when is part of pain management experience (Luis et al., 2008). This is very important when improving pain management. The theory is responsible for the "holistic caring process" which expands client assessment to ensure that subjective and objective data about the spiritual, emotional, and physical status is gathered thus making pain management possible. The theory is very important since it supports the application of healing theory which is useful in facilitating the conversations or integral dialogues between physicians and clients, nurses and clients, physicians

and nurses as well as nurses and other team members. Having these dialogues can be useful in causing a potential change in practice by causing an invitation to clients to disclose stories about their pain, this creates a more meaningful and useful plan development for pain management. The theory is very new which implies that health caregivers are not well conversant with its meaning and tests for integrity. Therefore this implies that nurses and other health caregivers should involve in the try and error to fully understand the theory and make it prevalent and integrated into daily life.
