Assignment

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to deepen your understanding of and ability to use genograms and ecomaps as tools for holistic assessments of individuals and families. These tools provide insights into potential intergenerational patterns, relational dynamics, and ecological factors that influence client experiences.

Course Outcomes

This assignment provides documentation of student ability to meet the following course outcomes:

· CO 10: Demonstrate skills to assess diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities (Competency 7).

· CO 11: Choose interpersonal conceptual frameworks when assessing individuals, families, groups, and organizations (Competency 7).

This assignment is worth 150 points.

Preparing the Assignment

Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the assignment. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.

Directions

Upload a complete genogram, ecomap, and paper (either as one file or three separate files) for one of the two cases that was  NOT assigned to your small group. Complete all five steps. Use APA Style and formatting for your paper.

Step 1: Genogram

· Choose one of the two cases that were not assigned to your small group. For instance, if your group was assigned to Jordan, please select Maria from the Rivera Family or Marcus.

· Closely review the case study and create a genogram.

· Upload the genogram.

Step 2: Ecomap

· Using the same case as Step 1, create and upload a completed ecomap.

Step 3: Initial Insights

· In 150 words or less, briefly describe the main highlights from your genogram.

· In 150 words or less, briefly describe the main highlights from your ecomap.

· Identify at least three issues based on what you identified in the genogram.

· Identify at least three issues based on what you identified in the ecomap.

Step 4: Theoretical Framework

· Choose one of the theories that have been introduced in this course and describe in 150 words or less how the theory explains what you see in your genogram and ecomap.

Step 5: Assessment

· List at least five assessment questions that are directly related to your genogram.

· For each assessment question that came from your genogram, describe your rationale for asking it in 2-3 sentences.

· List at least five assessment questions that are directly related to your ecomap.

· For each assessment question that came from your ecomap, describe your rationale for asking it in 2-3 sentences.

· Include in-text citations that conform to APA Style.
