Introduction
This week you will evaluate all the health policy processes learned over the last five weeks. You will research and present these processes from the stance of a healthcare leader/manager. Additionally, you will highlight issues and benefits relating to past, current, and future U.S. health policies. You will highlight in your paper the challenges faced while gathering the information for your research.

· Deane (2011) highlights the impact that governmental policies have on the U.S. healthcare system, specifically related to cost of care. She outlines several key cost concerns that the American public have with healthcare as a whole. The information reviews past and current statistics and changes that have taken place with healthcare rebursement, the uninsured, polictics, trusted stakeholders, and personal satisfaction with policies. The statistics presented review trends between 1994 and 2009.

· Bambauer (2005) discussed Proposition 63 (Mental Health Services Act). This policy was a voting initiative on the November 2004 ballots in California. This Act was implemented in an effort to fund mental health. Proposition 63 was well supported by California voters, even though it imposed mandated taxes of 1% on persons with income greater than $1M.

· Kardish (2015) discusses the fiscal and access concerns that could result from key U.S. Supreme Court rulings. Kardish warns that these rulings could become controversial. The rulings, according to the author, could impact health policy in terms of inaccessibility of care for underserved children (children served under the states’ Children Health Insurance Program), in as many as 30 states.

· The research analyzed the correlation between economic factors and the influences on health care spending. The authors focused on European nations expenditures during the great recession.

Will the next generation of preferential trade and investment agreements undermine prevention of non-communicable diseases? A prospective policy analysis of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement
. Health Policy, 119, 88–96.
· The authors analyzed the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) trade agreement. The study highlights specifically, the TPPA policy on health promotion as it relates to “healthy diet.” This is an important policy as it is part of the WHO’s initiative on the call for global action in the prevention and control of communicable diseases.

The Past, Current, and Future of U.S. Health Policy |
Health policy reinforces decision-making and planning processes that aim explicitly at societal health improvement. Policy, if implemented meticulously, allows healthcare leaders to forecast based on financial, political, and societal trends. Policy also provide objectives and contingency plans to facilitate growth through definition and/or redefinition of the company’s mission and vision (McLaughlin & McLaughlin, 2014). In a minimum of 250 words, discuss the following:

Final Policy Research Paper
The final policy paper is cumulative and covers Chapters 1 - 16 of McLaughlin and McLaughlin (2014) textbook. To complete the final assignment you are required to use at least eight peer-reviewed sources with at least two from Ashford University Library. · Choose four policy analysis processes and apply each one to a policy case (you may use a previous week’s case) or choose from the list below:

Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement
· Provide details on the other policy processes that were not utilized in your research. How could they be applied? Why would they be applicable?
· All applicable information from previous weeks must be included.
· A conclusion MUST be included at the end of the paper summarizing the key aspects of health policy.
Writing the Final Paper The Final Paper:
1. Must be 10 to 15 double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
2. Must include a title page with the following:
a. Title of paper
b. Student’s name
c. Course name and number
d. Instructor’s name
e. Date submitted
3. Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5. Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
6. Must use at least eight scholarly sources in addition to the text.
7. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
8. Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
