Discussion 1 Presenting Your Research

To what types of audiences might you present your research? How would that change your presentation?

As this course is coming to an end and I am working on my presentation, I find it interesting to think about the type of audience that I may present my presentation to would be to social workers who are interested in working for the child welfare system. I believe that this would be a good of audience because it provides them with an idea of some some complications they may find them selves. however this paper will demonstrate that kids need social workers not to give up of them no matter of how hard the job may be, and that they could be the social worker that makes the difference in a families life. On the other hand, my research paper will provide the audience the importance of working ethical a a social worker of the child welfare system. The need to work ethically in child protection is unassailable given the huge issues involved when considering, not only the rights and vulnerabilities of children, but also the complex, psycho-social and structural causes of maltreatment, and the needs of parents, many of whom come from the most impoverished and excluded sectors of society, Houston, S. (2017).

To what types of audiences might you present your research? How would that change your presentation?

My research deals with women, children, and substance abuse. To be more specific, my proposal deals with women who are pregnant and have a substance abuse problem. My hypothesis is that women who have a substance abuse problem while pregnant, will have a higher risk of having a child with cognitive learning disabilities. Studies have proven the damages that drugs can do to an unborn fetus and the issues that follow them throughout life. Cognitive and behavioral issues being the most popular. So my sole audience would be to women and women who are pregnant and have a substance abuse problem. I think that having more information on what are the negative possibilities that could happen to their unborn child, may help them want to change their lifestyle. It is never an easy road, but it could be a start. I think another influence that the proposal could reach is the fathers. Just because the mother may have a substance abuse problem, does not always mean that the father does. He may be unaware of the situation. Knowledge really is power, and can be very motivating.Bottom of Form
