Part I - 8 Ways to Engage

Eight Ways to Engage were shared in Chapter 17 of the Block text, Flawless Consulting: A guide to getting your expertise used. Consider the following scenario:  You are meeting with the CareRx HR team for the first time. Address the questions below.

· Listed in order of first to fourth, what do you believe is the right order to use these Eight Ways to Engage?  Explain your rationale.  

· Which of these Eight Ways to Engage have you experienced? Were they successful in engaging the participants? If yes, why? If no, why not?

Part II – Faces of Resistance

Block (2011) suggests that the most difficult element of consulting is the successful coping with client resistance.  This is a large topic that could easily takes a book to cover (and of course, it has). For the purpose of this discussion, however, offer Block’s perspectives of the following:

· Delineate and discuss the main elements of resistance as seen through the lens of the Block text.  

· Offer an example of how resistance might play out in our case study and how it might be effectively dealt with (again, according to Block).  

Other Guidelines for Initial Discussion Board Posts (please note!):

· Use at least 300 words in length of  substance .

· Your initial post must be made no later than 11:59pm Central Time on Wednesday.

· Use a minimum of three (3) academic resources as support (minimum one per section unless otherwise noted).These resources may be your textbook(s), required readings for the course, or outside academic research such as peer reviewed journals.  The resource may not be general websites. Use of those will be the equivalent of using no resource at all and will reduce scores since these sources lack academic rigor.

· Use APA citation and reference format to properly credit your supporting material.
