Week 6 GOvt
6.1: What’s Going On? (Week 6)
A big part of the thrill of government and politics is the open discussion of politics—and you’ll be doing a lot of that here. Specifically:
1) Find an ONLINE news article about U.S. politics and/or the U.S. government that interests you, and read it.
2) Go to the DISCUSSION BOARD forum called “What’s Going On? (Week 6)”
3) Make a new thread, and make its title the article’s title.
4) Paste the address of the news article in your thread, summarize the article in at least 100 words in the space provided, and explain why this article is relevant to us as students of the U.S. government.
6.2: Discussion Forum: “Low voter turnout? What’s so bad about that?”
I bet that, for most of your life, people lectured you about how important it is for you to get out there and vote. And maybe you have—or haven’t, whatever the case may have been. But have you wondered whether or not low voter participation or lower voter turnout is a good or a bad thing?
If not, you’re going to do that here. So do this:
1. Go to the DISCUSSION BOARD posting called Discussion Forum: “Low voter turnout? What’s so bad about that?”
2. Answer this question in at least 100 words: “is it better for democracy when low voter turnout happens? Why/why not?”
