Introduction • A shift from traditional methods of communication and
improvement in technology has resulted in social media. • Social media involves different channels of
communication like Facebook, instagram, twitter, and Tiktok • Businesses are employing these platforms for a more
global market approach • The population of people that has switched from
reading newspapers or watching television for updates is high and hence the need to adopt the changes
Agenda
• Instagram in communication and increasing sales • Facebook in increasing and opening up the
business to more markets • Twitter-in advertising goods and services • Tiktok and its roles in marketing
Trends in marketing
• Unlike in the past Television adverts were reported to reach a huge population • Most people were using that channel to talk and
educate people on the advantages of their goods and products • Today, Most people are catching up with news and
trends by using their smartphones • To make communication global, different social
media platforms have been created to connect people of one region with others
• This platform has a high number of users especially the youth who are not only using the platform for entertainment but for business too • The platform offers the users a chance to post images,
comment, and like posts made • The platform further gives people a chance to attach
links to their business websites while still alllowing others to purchase directly from their instagram pages • The platform is easy to use and any information shared
through it reaches a huge number of people
• This is a platform that has managed to maintain an official appearance • People sell their skills and goods through posting
images and attaching links to their websites where people make purchases • Twitter has a huge folllowing from people across
the globe • Ideas or advertising your business through the
platform is likely to reach many people
Facebook • This social media platform has been around longer than
any of the other platforms • It has the highest number of active users and has
continued to grow over time • Businesses use the platform to not only advertise but also
to receive feeedback on their goods and services • Facebook like instagram has an opportunity for its users to
comment and share the images or information with other parties • Facebook has the largest number of users from every age
group and using it is makes it easier to reach more people
How to use the different platforms • The different platforms can be used to collect data
important in planning and improving of goods and services • The different platforms can be used to increase
sales through advertisement • The different platforms can be used as channels for
sales where online buying and delivery is done • The platforms can be used to collect customer
feedback through comments and likes
How do companies use the platforms to advertise • Companies use different social media personalities to
advertise their goods • Most of these personalities have an influence on the target
audience and a huge following • In other cases, companies will post updates of their new
products in their social media pages.Those interested comment in the pages or go to their websites to place their purchases • The other way that companies use social media to advertise
is through engaging in activities that capture the attention of their target audience and enforce it using images and photos in their social media pages
Advantages of using social media for businesses • Opens up their businesses to global or bigger markets • Increases competitiveness • Increases sales with a bigger market • Improves the relationship they have with their
customers through interactions • Makes it easier to collect data they can use in improving
their performance • Reduces money used in advertising like television,
newspaper or public relations • Faster feedback
Cons of using social media
• Requires constant suppport system to respond to the customers questions and purchases • The feedback may not be truthfulful and at times
misguiding • Brand ambassadors may be expensive • Users in the workplace may spend alot of time in
checking out unnecessary posts rather than keeping track of the company's page • Requires consistency especially in posting
Can social media be used to solve a problem? • In the past most companies relied on surveys • With covid 19, the organizations had to come up
with an alternative method of data collection • Social media helps solve most of the issues an
organization has through data • The responses of the people in the form of likes or
comments is one of the easiest ways they can help solve an issue they have
