Question Week 5

1. Chapter 6; Kantian arguments

Privacy refers to the right to be left alone. Kant argues that protecting one’s privacy should be done for the reasons of preserving human dignity, independence, respect, and freedom. These reasons are classified as the “first-order” reason for privacy. He also suggests that there are other reasons that prompt people to protect their confidentiality called “second-order” logic. For related people, for example, wife and husband, the number of their checking account are the same. Due to such a reason when the husband protects the privacy of his name, he is also protecting the privacy of his wife’s.

Kant also suggests that we all have duties to ourselves and others as well. He cites self-worthy as a reason why we should protect our privacy and that of others (Boatright and Smith 2011, p.114). He says that some employees may suffer low self-esteem and harm themselves when their privacy is exposed and therefore argues that it is our moral duty to protect the privacy of others and ours.

I agree with Kantian arguments and reasons for privacy. In the current world, so many people have suffered tremendous losses due to their privacy being exposed. Vast amounts of money are stolen when people hack into bank accounts. Teens killing themselves due to their privacy being exposed to social media. It is a right to do private things as long as they are legal, and the US citizens should be protected against surveillance and other exposures to help curb the issues brought about by the disrespect of people, privacy.

AMAZING IMPROVEMENT IN WRITING.

WHY IS PRIVACY ESSENTIAL TO DIGNITY? DO ALL SOCIETIES PRACTISE THE SAME LEVEL OF PRIVACY AS DO MOST WESTERN CULTURES? DO MEMBERS OF THOSE OTHER SOCIETIES NOT EXHIBIT DIGNITY? QUESTION WEEK 5 3

2. Chapter 10; After the Warming

This video is a type of advertising. Throughout the narration, James Burcke tries to sell me the idea of conserving the environment for a better tomorrow or a convenient setting. Burke, who is the marketer, uses evidence collect from past years to show the relevance of his arguments. Through this way, he can learn people’s preferences and responses to be proposed. The advert is not only informational but also persuasive. In the videos, Burke (n.d.) is trying to inform people about several changes that have occurred in the earth as well as persuading them to stop or perform some acts. Out of the three selling tactics, manipulative is unethical. Manipulating data and then advertise it does not offer a prominent end product or service to the user because the data is not accurate (Boatright and Smith 2011, p.213). It is not okay to commit a minor wrong to accomplish a greater good because the results will be wrong or inaccurate.

WHAT TYPE OF ADVERTISING?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “THROUGH THIS WAY, HE CAN LEARN PEOPLE’S PREFERENCES AND RESPONSES TO BE PROPOSED” ?

DO YOU MEAN A QUALITY END PRODUCT?

ALTHOUGH STILL SEVERAL GRAMMATICAL ERRORSM THIS IS AN IMPROVEMENT IN YOUR WRITING.
