History’s Impact

Historical information which I gathered, greatly transformed my opinion towards the relation of one’s personal situation and historical events of the era in which we are living. In 1992 I was born in Arizona. I developed strong bonding with my mother as she was a single mother and she was quite good in horse riding and conducting riding lessons for children and adults. We often used to go for family outings riding the horses on the trails to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Arizona. Growing up as a child we had a really un stable home and things were always all over the place as far as men in and out of the home, different homes and my mother’s health.

I remember when the world trade centers were attacked. This created a sort of uncertainty and caused a total damage of about $23 billion and $37 billion. We moved and got some land in Arizona so my Mother could expand her business in child entertainment. We had a portable pony ring and petting zoo and fun small carnival games. Also, at that time we had a curve ball hit us and I was diagnosed with a small cancerous tumor inside my mouth. In the era of Bill Clinton, the economy of USA remained well and there was not any big political issue except the rumors and hiring of his scandal. In 2000 George W. Bush was elected as the new president of United States. And a sudden change in USA policies emerged after the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorists on 11 September. Tight Transport Security Administration was established in November 2001.

Through investigation lead to the common belief that the September 11 attack was planned by Osama bin Laden. So, for the search of Osama bin Laden and his group, United States attacked Afghanistan along with NATO. In 2003 United States also invaded Iraq and I remember just sitting in my school classroom in fourth grade in fear and shock and not knowing what was going to happen. Bush was highly criticized and as a result, Barack Obama was elected as President in 2008. To lighten the impact of worst recession of Bush era, African-American President passed reforms on health care and banking. In 2011, Iraq and America combat were over, and I had just graduated high school. I wanted to be apart of the fight for our country, so I joined the army in late 2010 but left for basic in January 2011.

Obama policies were effective enough and lower the rate of unemployment below 7.8%. In 2013, Barack Obama was elected as president second time. Obama passed number of bills to stabilize the economy, agreed on oil drilling handled Ebola Virus outbreak, in which my husband helped fight, launched “Star Wars” satellite program and initiated Student Debt relief program. I was active duty at this time and had always wanted to start school but was just not in place yet to do that with a deployed husband and two very young babies. Obama started a policy regarding financial aid and student loans. His Student Aid Bill helped a lot to solve the student debt problems and facilitated a lot of students in paying school loans faster.

Clinton received huge support from college graduates (52%-43%) by 9-point margin, while Trump was supported by non-college goers (52% - 44 %). Regardless of campaign efforts, Donald Trump became the President of the United States (Krugman, 2016). Trump policies were received as controversial one; he ordered about the tight monitoring of security concerns and suspended the entry of people belonging to Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya. I was quite curious regarding the Trump policies related to education and health. Mostly because I was about to be getting out of the military in 2016 and this would obviously be important for me to know and be aware of how that may affect me or my family. Fortunately having Tri Care for health coverage, we were not really affected.

This is all about my personal recollection and its relation to history. It provides me deep insight that both are interlinked to each other. History is related to study of past events and recollection is also about the remembrance of your life past events. Both are strongly interlinked to one another. It was a true joy being able to go back and remember the events that happened in my life. Some things brought smiles and others may have brought a tear or two. But also being able to compare what was going on in my personal life at the time, especially in my younger years, seeing what was going on in the big picture of the world as a whole.
