The Research Process: Source Critique
Introduction
Evidence indicates that organizations use different techniques to monitor employee performance at the workplace. Employee performance monitoring ensures that employees’ performance levels do not decrease by collecting and reporting data on their behaviors (Tomczak et al., 2018). The article reviewed in this critique is “Evidence-based recommendations for employee performance monitoring” done by Tomczak, Lanzo, and Aguinis (2018). The authors’ findings support the idea that employee monitoring reduces the risk of decreasing employee performance levels.
Topic Description
The authors in the article, through intensive research, provide evidence-based recommendations to organizations on how they can monitor their employee performance and avoid risks associated with it, including decreasing performance.
Summary of the Findings
The authors found out that many organizations use employee monitoring systems, but the organization has to consider the privacy and attitude of the employee before designing and implementing the system. In addition, the authors noted that organizations have to inform their employees of the monitoring system. Furthermore, it has to research and identify possible reactions towards the system among employees, and the system should be used for learning and development other than other purposes (Tomczak et al., 2018). Similarly, the authors found that employee monitoring systems should be designed to monitor work-related activities only, and organizational composition should be considered when designing and implementing the monitoring system.
Article Interpretation
Tomczak et al. (2018) provide important insights to organizations that intend to design and implement employee performance monitoring systems. According to the authors, implementing the employee performance monitoring system is vital to the organization as it contributes to the performance of employees since they will keep in mind that they are being monitored while at work. As a result, EPM reduces laxity and time-wasting while at work, reducing the risk of decreased employee performance in organizations. However, this article is also essential for the audience to read because it provides the precautions that should be put in place to avoid violating employees’ privacy rights (Tomczak et al., 2018). Similarly, recommendations are provided on how organizations can design and implement an effective and efficient employee performance monitoring system. Therefore, it is essential for managers managing employees to read the article as it will help them gain insights on how they can enhance employee performance and avoid the risk of decreased employee performance levels.
Implications to the Profession
The article findings imply that employees must understand that many organizations are monitoring, collecting, and reporting their working behaviors through EPMs. Therefore, employees as professionals have to be focused and determined while at work. Secondly, as managers, it is essential to implement systems that will ensure that the risk of decreased performance among employees is eliminated (Tomczak et al., 2018). Managers have to consult employees when implementing such measures, and the privacy of the employees should be considered when designing employee performance monitoring systems. Similarly, it is apparent from the article that it is the responsibility of managers to ensure that employee performance is optimal to avoid underperformance.
Conclusion
It is interesting to note that organizations use different employee performance monitoring to enhance employee performance. The article is insightful and informative because I have realized that privacy issues must be considered when implementing employee performance monitoring systems. I have also realized that I have to consult employees and inform them of the organization's intention to implement an employee performance monitoring system to gather their working behaviors. Finally, I have learned that EPM systems can be used to enhance employee performance and avoid decreased employee performance levels in organizations.

HERE IS WEEK 3’s PAPER-
The Research Process: Outlining the Research Analysis
Thesis:
The current essay will argue that implementing employee performance monitoring systems and energizing employees and collecting performance feedback reduces employee performance levels.
Introduction:
The decreased performance level is a big issue that poses several challenges to organizational managers today. Sometimes, employees may not be as productive as usual. A decrease in employee productivity in teams may significantly impact the team's process to achieve its goals, making it challenging to motivate the other team members (Parker et al., 2012). Because of this, managers must conduct a periodic review of the procedures and processes in the organization to enhance efficiency. They must perform workflow analysis, identify strengths and weaknesses, and restructure weaknesses to increase performance.
Body Paragraph 1:
Greve and Gaba's (2017) article "Performance feedback in organizations and groups: Common themes" will be used to provide the first research body paragraph. The authors investigated the themes that dominate organizational performance feedback and how the themes can be utilized to enhance employee performance. The article will provide crucial professional information on how to improve employee performance. From a professional perspective, performance feedback is vital in countering decreasing employee performance.
Body Paragraph 2:
Parker, Gerbasi, and Porath's (2012) article "The effects of de-energizing ties in organizations and how to manage them" will present the idea that will be used to build the second paragraph. The authors provide essential information on how energizing ties impact employee performance and how to manage its effects. Professionally, people managing employees have to understand how energizing relations can be controlled in organizations.
Body Paragraph 3:
Tomczak, Lanzo, and Aguinis (2018) article "Evidence-based recommendations for employee performance monitoring" will provide the theme discussed in the third paragraph. The authors provide essential insights to organizations that intend to design and implement employee performance monitoring systems. According to the authors, implementing the employee performance monitoring system is vital to the organization as it contributes to the performance of employees since they will keep in mind that they are being monitored while at work.
Conclusion:
The main themes from the articles focus on motivation and job satisfaction as the main techniques that managers can use to mitigate decreased performance levels among employees. Secondly, employees who are satisfied with their job will become more committed to working for the organization, which implies that they will perform optimally.
