Critically think about Sigmund Freud and his Psychoanalytic Theory compared with the neo-Freudians and their associated theories pertaining to shaping personality. Questions:

1. Sigmund Freud is the founder of psychoanalysis and significantly influenced the psychology field. Freud’s followers, the neo-Freudians, modified his views to create their own theories regarding shaping personalities. Choose one of the neo-Freudians from the readings/videos. How did his/her view differ from that of Freud and how were they similar?

2. This week’s reading emphasizes how Freud believed psychoanalysis was his creation, but he was not a stranger to the influx of criticism he received from his views (Freud, 1914). What are some of the major criticisms of his theory and how has it evolved to be utilized today?
