Discussion Post #1 (Eng-101):

If you need to post your main response before you have received feedback from me for your Week 4 essay. Please go ahead and discuss the areas of your paper that you believe you need to work on. Provide thoughtful, specific details, and make sure you create a substantive post that addresses these areas of concern. Remember as well that main responses have minimum word count requirements for original content that addresses the required prompts. See attached Week 4 for comments and errors.

Review Essay 2 feedback – reflection on your writing and peers’ writing: Review your feedback from your uploaded rhetorical analysis Essay from last week. Make two categories: Grammar/Punctuation/Spelling & Content/Format. Place each error in one of these categories with the correction then create an adjusted writing plan to avoid making these errors in the future.

Be sure to answer the following questions: Did you make the same errors as last time? Why or why not? Did you make new errors? If so, why?  Finally, review your peers’ errors and writing plans and provide specific feedback on how they could correct these errors for next time. Be sure to respond to at least two peers over two different days to earn full points.

Task 1: Create a new discussion topic on or before the required date/time by clicking the '**REPLY HERE**' post. Develop a substantive main thread addressing each part of the prompt in full. Your initial thread should be 2-3 paragraphs in length (200+ words total). Support your points with examples or illustrations from the text. Quotations/citations are not strictly required, but MLA style should be used if quoting or paraphrasing from the literature or outside sources. Review the How-To Guide: MLA Formatting and Citations page (linked in class) as needed.

Discussion Post #2 (HSE-305):

Preventing Terrorist Attacks Discussion Forum

While watching the news on TV one night, you hear a scholar suggest that America must address the root causes of terrorism. What does this mean and will “addressing root causes” eliminate all terrorist attacks?

Task 1: Click "**REPLY HERE**" to create your initial post to the above prompt on or before the due date listed in the  Course Schedule. Your  initial post should be  250+ words .

Discussion Post #3 (CIS-110):

Define an algorithm in relation to computer science. How does Alice fit with this definition? Would you consider any of your daily activities as an algorithm? Why or why not?

Task 1: Create a new discussion topic on or before the due date in the Course  Syllabus -> Course Schedule by clicking the '**REPLY HERE**' post below. In your reply, you will post your response to the main topic. Your response should be a  minimum of  150 words. Going over the minimum word length requirement is acceptable; however, I am not looking for 500+ words!

What is Alice?

Alice is an innovative block-based programming environment that makes it easy to create animations, build interactive narratives, or program simple games in 3D. Unlike many of the puzzle-based coding applications Alice motivates learning through creative exploration. Alice is designed to teach logical and computational thinking skills, fundamental principles of programming and to be a first exposure to object-oriented programming. The Alice Project provides supplemental tools and materials for teaching using Alice across a spectrum of ages and subject matter with proven benefits in engaging and retaining diverse and underserved groups in computer science education.
