North America Ice Age

· Ice has created most of the North America’s most geological wonders. North America’s ice age began two million years ago.

· Over a million years, the ice sheets in North America has led to the diversion of its rivers, for example, the Mississippi River.

· The Ice age theory which suggests that North America was once covered in ice was proposed by a Harvard professor. It was in the 1950s that his theory was proved from evidence found in the seabed of the Atlantic Ocean.

· Over the north, several types of rocks have been dumped in places they do not belong.

· Nearly two-thirds of North America was buried under ice. Temperatures fell and land was covered with glaciers.

· The Moraine Hills is where the ice sheets halted.

· The moving ice left the same pattern in the lands, for examples rocks left in lines. Even the strongest rocks had scratches. The scratches were, however, made by different ice sheets. This helped geologists to determine the ice movements.

· After the ice melted away, it affected North America. The existing landscape changed since new rivers, basins, and lakes formed.

· The ice age also created the Nayagra falls and ice cores. It further transformed North America’s coastline. The sea levels fell.

· At the end of the ice age, there was a reduction in various species including the camels.
