Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Peer Broadcast Story Critique

Prepare Icon

Prepare: As we have learned, writing for broadcast is quite different than writing for print. Just as it is important to have our print media critiqued, it is equally important to understand how well we are reaching an audience through broadcast. After you have made corrections to your broadcast scripts based on your instructor’s comments, you will record your radio broadcast from your Week 3 story script using your smartphone or recording software such as Audacity. Once you have saved your recording as an MP3 file, you will attach it to your post.

Reflect Icon

Reflect: (Person Giving Feedback) In listening to the broadcast stories of your peers, you will consider the following elements. To refresh your memory about what to look for, review Chapter 8 of The Complete Editor.

1. Correctness

2. Clarity

3. Conscieness

4. Color

Write Icon

Write: After listening to the broadcasts of two of your peers write a 250- to 300-word critique on the story they presented. Be sure to mention aspects of the story that were engaging as well as those things you believe could have been improved.
