Week 4 Responses
Peer Response Guidelines:
1. Share any observations you have about the thesis statement. Does it present a clearly-defined position on a debatable topic? Is it narrow enough to be supported within the constraints of the paper?
2. Identify opposing points of view that could be addressed to strengthen the central argument. How might the writer accommodate or refute them?
3. Is the outline well-organized? Does it suggest a logical structure for the essay and a clear focus throughout?

I really love what you have written. One main point that stands out is the fact that you stated about quick meals, anymore you see parents taking their children out to eat, families seem to rarely cook anymore. Where I work there is a lady who brings her young son to the store and everytime it he gets candy, this is a child who is already overweight for his age and yet his mother allows him to choose candy sometimes even helps him pick it out. This is a big part of why children are overweight, also the lack of physical activity in their lives. With that being said did you find any information on how parents can become better at parenting as far as what they should be feeding their child? Or any other ways that they can prevent obesity in their child? Very good read. Thank you

creen time is making users lazy, crazy and moody. The use of electronics and the time wasted is taking a toll on users whether you realize it or not. This issue is seen as a positive to some, seeing that everything is in one place: on the internet, on the laptop, or on their phone; but this is issue is extremely negative and way more serious than you think. Health issues are on the arise.
Screen time becoming an issue began when everything started becoming electronic or digital. Games started becoming not only a game console thing, but on a phone or tablet thing. Next thing you know all school text books and home work is online. Every answer you’re looking for is a click away, at your finger tips. But this is making things entirely too easy. Research is no longer research, and leisure time spent on the internet has become hours and hours on end surfing the web, or more commonly searching through social medias. In a perfect world, a simple solution would be going back to the books, but it’s not just that easy. Going back to books would be just the start.
This issue has become major because people are becoming obsessed with their phones, laptops, tablets, and game consoles. Not only are the users of the electronics affected but everyone else around: their parents, friends, family and maybe even coworkers are affected too. Children having an obsession is such a huge issue because they don’t get outside anymore, bring their physical activity, social activity, connections with others, slim to none. Adults that over use electronics decrease their attention to their children, loved ones or their work. If this issue is not solved there will be an increase in mood changes, social disconnection, mental health issues, physical health issues, academics slipping, and the list could go on and on. Another issue that will continue will be sleep and vision issues. Many people do not realize the long term harm that comes with excessive use of screen time.
Screen time is seriously become an addiction, there is actually groups for those who have been diagnosed with “social media addiction or cell phone addiction”. According to Dr. Nicole Berkens, teens who use electronic devices for more than two hours per day report significantly more mental health symptoms, increased psychological distress, and more suicidal ideation. This fact connects the issue of screen time to damaging a young life, going as far as suicidal thoughts.
Excessive screen time and electronic usage has gone too far. The health issues that are accumulating and the time wasted on social media surfing is becoming irreversible. People are becoming moody, crazy and lazy. Something has got to be done about the addiction with electronics, especially social media. It is taking over lives and sadly changing peoples lives for the bad.

Informal Outline
Part One: Not having free education is ruining the lives of many people. Not everybody can afford the crazy prices it costs to get an education. This influences some people’s jobs which then affects their income. This can lead to people having no transportation and little money to meet their basic needs. Having an education is important. Education should be free for everyone.
Part Two: Washington State had passed an act to help make our country better. Washington State has passed a “Workforce Education Investment Act” in which would raise money over a period to help the lower- and middle-class income students to get free or reduced tuition would become effective in 2020. This gives people an opportunity to better their lives, increase economic self-sufficiency, and improve workforce quality. Nothing since has been done to make sure this is law gets passed and is set in stone.
Part Three: The problem with not having free education is that not everyone has a chance at a better life and that we aren’t doing anything to help our people or help or economy grow. This is a big problem in society. Many people are affected by not having free education for everyone. The lower and middle class are the ones who suffer. They suffer because they can’t always afford and education as it costs a lot of money to get an education.
Part Four: It is possible that if education does not become free or reduced so that everyone can get an education that we could have people who don’t know basic things, people who can’t afford to live their day to day life, and people who could be left with very little job opportunities. Our economy would take downfall because we will have less people who work, which means they aren’t bringing in money for themselves, corporate companies, and small businesses. Leaving the world empty and abandoned.
Part Five: Free education would lead people to live better lives. It would give people learning for a lifetime. People would get better jobs with an education as most jobs require some sort of college. Our economy would boom because free education would lead to more money in the world.
Part Six: Education is such an important necessity in the world. We the people could live better lives, have a chance to learn, and boost our economy, and have more chances if education was free to everyone. We could improve workforce quality. We could make this world a better place by working together to come up with a way to make education free to all. Education should be free for everyone.
