Week 4/Discussion

Under the leadership of Biden-Harris they committed to support mental health by allowing the Consolidated Appropriations Act {CAA} in 2021 to get started to help those who suffer from mental health can receive more and better services with the assistance of The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration {SAMHSA} by giving these two services money and also 231 Community mental Health Centers {CMHCs} around the United States totaling $825 million {HHS, 2021} and with this type of funding it allows these organizations to be better equipped and it will decrease the people that were unable to receive treatment and help them with whatever mental disorder they are experiencing, {Samsha, 2021} and this will help many people who was not able to receive the proper care finally can get professional help and be able to function without worrying about the disorder they were experiencing.

When I look at mental illness and substance abuse they work hand in hand being that people use drugs to alleviate the symptoms of the mental disorder they are experiencing by using drugs to help them through the pain and anguish the mental disorder is causing them so they can remove the anxiety that comes with mental illness.

To reduce the stigma associated with mental health there need to be more money invested in these people so they can have a better life and this must start with the people who are suffering from these disorders to manage their lives and as everything else there have to be regulations and guidance to ensure they remain on the road to recovery through therapy and counseling from a qualified professional. In other words people can get services and be able to qualify for the resources that are attached to the program regardless if they can afford the service, {NIHM, 2020}. Just imagine that human service workers could advocate for every service to be look at as health care and not be considered mental health and that would begin the process of changing the stigma associated with the term mental health and have all clinics provide services for the mental health client in conjunction with other medical needs and with everyone working together within these clinics/hospitals the stigma would decrease immensely, {Conley, 2021}.

By educating them on the resources and services that are available to them and assuring them that everything is of no charge and they would be able to see a doctor who could help them with their disorder. To inform people about what they are entitled to goes a long way being that many do not know and just accept the fact that they have to deal with their disorder alone.

Well my clients will face many challenges in their transition into society being they will have to learn the norms of what is accepted and be able to adjust to society and

understand the requirements that are associated with getting mental health like the application process, their medical records to show the disorder they are suffering from as well as the treatment they received if any which comes back to the human service worker who has to guide them through the process and explain to them what everything means so they will understand the process they will have to follow, {Counseling Today, 2021}.
