Celiac disease effects the body’s way of processing gluten and 1 in 100 people within the United States has a gluten intolerance. Wheat, rye, and barley all contain gluten and when you have celiac disease, your immune system over reacts causing a damaging reaction. The small intestine becomes damaged which could lead to more health issues. The only way patients are able to treat this disease is through their diet. They have to avoid any gluten, luckily over the past decade, there have been many gluten free options available for people. However, having to minimize your diet is still a struggle as cross contamination at restaurants can occur.

Researchers recently came out with a possible treatment called Nexvax2 which targets the body’s immune system similarly like an allergy shot to accept gluten. The procedure includes 2 shots weekly for 16 weeks. Peptides are found in this shot as it is most important for the immune system to react positively, therefore, reprogramming to accept gluten. This study includes 150 people to see how effective Nexvax2 is and how safe this shot is as well.

Many scholarly articles and research findings outlined the connection between sleep deprivation and weight gain. Journalist Hesman Safy (2018) added to discussion the research done on the ones circadian rhythm and findings that calories are burn more during rest time. In addition, it was found that people can burn about 129  more calories in the  afternoon and evening than early in the morning. This occurs because our metabolism is controlled by  circadian clock. It is our physicall, mental and behavioral changes we experience daily such as sleeping at night and being active during day. The scientist conducting an experiment found that regular consistent un interrupted circadian rhythm is essential for ones well being. Calories burned at rest time improves breathing, circulation, normal body temperature and activity. Therefore, don't over eat after morning exercise and do take afternoon nap, you will burn more calories.

Tea or Coffee?

There are varying preferences for individuals who have daily caffeine intake, and recent studies portray that it may relate to genetics. For people who prefer coffee over tea, research supports the idea that this is due to a gene that increases sensitivity to the bitter flavor of caffeine (Saey, 2018). Reports have shown that those who prefer tea tend to have lower sensitivity to the bitterness of caffeine, but the bitterness of other material increases.

Although people may prefer a more bitter taste than other individuals, people often avoid consuming bitter material due to it being reminiscent of poison. Researchers mentioned that bitter tastes and the relation to genetics can be unclear due to the possibility of genes being the contributor in breaking down caffeine in general (Saey, 2018). Overall, whether it be the breakdown of caffeine or the preference of tea or coffee, genetics are a contributing factor regarding caffeine and general preferences.
