Health Concept Paper

Introduction

Healthcare organizations encounter various challenges during the delivery of health care services and meeting the rising needs among their customers. The Downtown Health Center will be located in downtown Houston City, Texas. The managed health care system that will provide outstanding acute care in as much as it is an elite level 1 trauma center that will gain a positive reputation both locally and internationally. Thus, the hospital intends to serve a wide range of clients. Most of the staff members at the hospital will be from the faculty, city residents, and the Baylor College of Medicine students (Harris Health System. 2018). The Hospital seeks to establish strategies through the comprehensive satellite clinic program that will enable it to serve and provide quality services to its clients across the city. This feasibility report provides some of the strategies that could be applied in improving the quality of services provided to the patients across the city. This will be achieved through the implementation of strategic initiatives that will enhance accessibility to health care services, recruitment of healthcare provides, and implementation of new technology.

Evaluating Feasibility

In order to succeed in the implementation of the set objectives, the hospital needs to take into consideration various factors. These include the human resources availability within the facility, the needs of the population in the community, federal and state regulations, as well as the technological advances that have been made in the healthcare sector (Wachino, Artiga, & Rudowitz, 2014). By considering these factors, the facility will be able to respond accordingly to the needs of the population they seek to serve.

Strategic Effect

Public policy has a major impact on the provision of healthcare services within the facility. The hospital has to abide with the established federal and state healthcare regulations such as Medicare and Medicaid, which are meant to enhance access to quality health care services to all the residents in the city. The provision of health care can be measured by evaluating the ability of the facility to serve more clients and be able to meet the needs of the growing city population using statistical data that is obtained (Odom Walker et al, 2010). The city population is a key market priority for the facility and the implementation of the comprehensive satellite clinic program will help enhance the quality of services provided to the target population.

Market Analysis

There is a clear need for the services that the facility intends to offer to the city population. This is due to the increase of the patient population who need acute care services among other services. Some of the members of the city population are economically depressed, which may hinder them from accessing quality healthcare services. The implementation of the program will help the facility to overcome major challenges affecting the people who seek to access health care services (Liang, Phillips, & Haas, 2006). Most of the facilities within the city have not been able to cater for the population who need acute care services, which makes comprehensive satellite clinic program to become more effective.

Financial Analysis

The main source of revenue for the implementation of this program is the federal government. In addition, the success of the program will depend on the donations, grants, and awards from our private partners. The comprehensive satellite clinic program aims at minimizing wastage and inefficiencies that arise during the provision of healthcare services, which will in turn guarantee successful implementation of quality health care across the city. In addition, the program requires maintenance from the time it is initiated in order to guarantee continuity of service provision to all our clients (Morton et al, 2015). The fixed costs of this program include the installation costs for the satellite clinics and the cost of hiring professional staff member while the variable costs arise from the maintenance and hiring of more staff members to help with the implementation of the program.

Operations Performance

The implementation of the proposed program will facilitate gradual improvement in the quality of healthcare services provided to the city residents. The statistical data obtained from the city population helps determine the aspects of healthcare that require improvement (Williams et al, 2014). This will ensure that the program is able to address the needs of the city population.

Outpatient

The comprehensive satellite clinic program mainly caters for outpatients, who seek treatment and therapy services for acute care treatment. The outpatient service will ensure that the staff members are able to serve the patients with greater efficiency by reducing the costs incurred during the hospital visits among the patients. The program will add value on the part of the patients in as much as it will improve the financial viability of the healthcare facility. In addition, the program will ensure that the hospital is able to reduce the number of patients who are admitted to the facility (Wachino, Artiga, & Rudowitz, 2014). However, effective implementation of the program is hampered by various challenges which may impact effective execution and attainment of objectives.

Outlook

The comprehensive satellite clinic program will lead to improvement in health care standards across the city by providing quality services to all the patients. The proposed program will be able to meet the demand for healthcare services among the patients across the city. In addition, the program has to be sustainable through the partnership with able partners such as the federal and state government as well as private investors in the healthcare sector (Liang, Phillips, & Haas, 2006). Thus, the study responds to the healthcare needs of the Houston City population as it provides quality and accessible health care services.

Conclusion

The appropriate feasibility study will guarantee that the proper expectations for the healthcare center are perceived. The feasibility study will ensure the physicians and management outline a proper healthcare facility bearing in mind their budget limitations. There are several things that should be considered when putting up a structure such as; the overhead costs of running the facility, the wage bill, and also the best kind of healthcare model for the proposed facility. If is to gain a profit, then placing the healthcare facility within a 25 miles radius of the downtown area is an astute idea and has the possibility of being a successful plan. This is because the downtown healthcare facility will be guaranteed to patients’ traffic to the center due to the huge population that is densely populated. If placing the facility downtown is for the sole provisions of healthcare services and not to make a profit, then success is also guaranteed as the nature of the downtown population offers that. In conclusion, it is a good plan to have the healthcare facility within a 25 mile radius of the downtown area.
