Example (you may NOT use this as your answer for direct instruction): Direct instruction is an instructional model used by the teacher to teach a specific skill, knowledge, or both. It has distinct characteristics: it is skill centered, relies on teacher modeling, and takes place during whole group instruction. The Direct Instruction model follows the "I do, we do, you do" pattern (Estes & Mintz, 2016).

Include an example of how you would use the instructional model or strategy in your teaching to meet the needs of diverse students.

Example (you may NOT use this as your answer for direct instruction): General examples of direct instruction include; classroom lectures, demonstrations or presenting a video ("Direct Instruction," 2013). An example of direct instruction that I could use in my class in order, to meet the diverse needs of my students would be; use varying questions which can be adjusted based on the student's level of experience, interests and preferred method to learning (Estes & Mintz, 2016).

Explain how the instructional model or strategy supports the diverse needs of students.

Example (you may NOT use this as your answer for direct instruction): When using direct instruction, it will be important to support the needs of diverse students this can be accomplished, during direct instruction, by including visuals. For example, if we are discussing the solar system, it will be important to use visuals of the solar system in order, to create engagement.
