Week 4

Multicultural education is a type of education that promotes equality among all students by considering the beliefs of people from different races, social classes, and ethnic. Multicultural education incorporates cultures of different races within the education system (Wilson, 2012). Therefore, multicultural education aims to provide students with information about the culture, history, and the importance of diverse cultural groups within the society. Under multicultural education, there are students of different cultures, and the teaching program covers different cultural beliefs to support a diverse and integrated early childhood development.

Ways of incorporating beliefs into an early learning environment are by introducing them into a learning program by including them into what has to be covered in class so that it can be practiced practically. The second way is introducing and implementing the beliefs during play as a way of enhancing cultural beliefs. When students play and interact with each other, it provides the opportunity of sharing intercultural beliefs.

The obstacle when setting a multicultural learning environment is the language barrier where some do not understand English which is used as a primary language of communication within the classroom. The second challenge is covering the diverse cultures of all students is hard, and some students may not participate in class work when their culture is not considered. Therefore, there is a need to coach students to ensure that they understand English to be used as a primary language to solve the challenge of the language barrier, and the course should handle different cultures of all the students to bring equality. The other way of controlling cultural diversity among the students is by ensuring there is sensitivity to cultural preferences where students of each culture feel that their cultural practices are respected and hence feel motivated to continue participating in the educational program and learn more about other cultures. When the students feel that their culture is not respected, they will not be motivated to learn the culture of others hence limiting the achievement of multicultural education
