At the health fair if an older woman were to ask me about starting an exercise program, I would be all for it. My reason behind this is because since she seems to be an active advocate for her health by even attending this is something she may be serious about and will only benefit her long-term. The recommendations I would give her first would be to check with her primary health care provider, they will know what exercises and how intense she should be when exercising. I would also like to dig a little deeper and ask, why all of a sudden her friends have something to say about her exercising? I would hope that she is doing this for herself and her well-being not just because her friends said so.

The precautions I would include in my recommendations would be to again ask her provider how intense her workouts should be, or how long they should be because I do not know what other health concerns, she may have that may prevent her from exercising. Another precaution would be to make sure she knows how to exercise; I would not want her to hurt herself and then not be able to exercise or do basic things like ADL’s. Overall consulting with her primary provider should be applied, but I think as a nurse I would strongly encourage this as well.

People's blood pressure impact by various factors. For example, such as body weight, stress, lifestyle, eating habits, and other factors such as the environment. Hypertension is more common in older adults, which can cause by a variety of variables such as age, blood vessel wear and tear, stress, worry, and illness. An active lifestyle helps keep blood pressure in control, and a person's diet can also affect blood pressure. I would advise her to consume a well-balanced diet to meet her energy requirements. Before working out, a nutrition screening and evaluation can help identify this patient's nutritional status. When high fat or high-calorie foods are consumed regularly, there is a higher risk of developing high blood pressure. It is preferable to avoid high salt content in a diet beyond a certain age, and lowering salt content can also help keep blood pressure in control. Exercising is beneficial to everyone since it keeps the mind and body busy and in good shape. It also enables you to sleep better by keeping your weight under control, toning flabby muscles, and increasing muscle strength. As a result, exercise is beneficial in every way. A trainer or a professional should be present to guide the person who wants to exercise; this is necessary to avoid falls and fractures. Poor footwear, trip hazards, and temperature extremes are all environmental risk factors.
