In chapter 8 “relentlessly clear” it explains when you are writing your essay, you should make sure to put yourself in the reader shoes in order to have a clearer understanding of how to write your essay. In addition, have a colleague read your essay, to see if he could summarize the main point of your essay on the first read through. Chapter 10 “Waste no words” explains how you should never use more words than you have too, try to keep it as short and simple as you can. In addition, you should delete any sentences that doesn’t benefit your argument. 

 

Analysis

I found chapter 8 really important because it helps the writer understand what the reader will see while reading the essay. The writer will be able to clarify the main points of the topics in a simple way once the writer is able to see what is the type of audience he is writing too. This chapter helps me realize the importance of asking a colleague to proofread it and see if he is able to summarize the main point of your essay. It also discusses the significance of keeping it short and simple. When writing your ideas, it is better to write it as quickly as you can and easy to read, so that the reader could clearly see the arguments that you are trying to get across. If you made it too long the reader will probably get bored from reading and will not see the main points that you are trying to get across. In chapter 10, it is important because it helped me understand that I shouldn’t use unnecessary any words that could cause a sentence to be longer. If you are able to say it in a few words, then it would better to do so. Most readers find it exhausting if they have to read a whole paragraph just to understand what the message is. It is also important to delete any padding that doesn’t help the reader clearly see the main point of the topic. Once it is shortened and any unnecessary words or sentences are removed, readers will be able to read with ease.
