Evaluating Rubrics
Supporting Lecture:
Review the following lecture:
· Direct Measures—Assignments and Rubrics
Rubrics may be holistic or analytic in nature, but the primary objective is to directly assess student performance or learning through classroom assignments. There must be a direct link between the assignment tasks and the assessment tool in order to provide meaningful data. We will perform an assessment of your current course, INS7205: Measurement and Assessment in Education, and look specifically to how well assignments and rubrics line up.
Tasks:
· Review a minimum of five assignments (discussion and/or project assignments) and their associated rubrics for INS7205: Measurement and Assessment in Education.
· Create a table where you list the assignment tasks in one column, the condensed rubric criteria (evaluate, summarize, analyze, etc.), and the assessment levels (excellent, proficient, good, etc.) for each of the chosen assignments.
· Evaluate how well each assignment rubric reflects student learning based on the assignment tasks; that is, is the assignment an effective assignment?
· Present at least two recommendations for improvement per rubric or assignment that will increase student learning, consistency with course objectives, or clarity of rubric measures.
Submission Details:
· Use APA format and style for your paper.
· Complete your analysis in a 6- to 8-page Microsoft Word document.
· Name the document as SU_INS7205_W3_A2_LastName_FirstInitial.doc.
