I chose to talk about the Lauren topic about illegal immigrants. She did a great job and I love the fact that she chose not to give her opinion too.. I think that this is a topic that is something that we have all ways faced however, we have never addressed until now. Meaning, our President has brought this “issue” us and made it a priority. I do agree with Lauren that I will not give my own opinion on if I am on one side or the other. This topic is something that needs to be looked at with a clear mind to understand all side. Her article clearly stated that we need to as a society to understand this topic from an economic point of view and how it would affect us as a whole. The real question is will it affect us at all or no?
The topic from the thread I chose was Women in combat. I chose this topic because being in the military and women we are viewed a little different then men. Now I could be wrong, but people seen to have more of an emotional reaction with women going to combat than a man. I think that we are all the same. Nonetheless, there have been times where people I have deployed with would tell me that they see me as their sister or mother, so they would put their lives before mines. I appreciated that however, I had to remind them that all lives matter and we were in this together. Most of them had a family. All I had was a husband at the time. The article does agree that a lot jobs have been recently opened to women to get rid of the gender-basis roles. Which is a great step in the right direction. Therefore, women would be able to serve their countries like their brothers in arms.
