How driving based insurance works?
“Insurance companies are mostly interested in data that paints a picture of a driver’s habits, which helps the company figure out if the driver is likely to cost them money in claims. Commonly cited types of data include when the car was used, distance driven, and time spent driving. They also want to know how fast a driver typically drives and any incidents of hard braking, both of which are indicators that the driver takes risks and doesn’t pay attention. Finally, and perhaps most controversially, the devices can track a car’s location.”

All Applications that use location services are Mashups
A mashup is a website that combines content data from more than one source to create a new user experience.
Location services aren’t that interesting until they are used to do something or solve some kind of problem
I need to find a place to stay
I need to take my valentines date somewhere that won’t cost me too much money.
I need to get from point a to point b using public transit…
The Mashup
A mashup is a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another.
Also works with samples – when someone takes an aspect of a song (drums, vocals) and combines them with other elements to make something new.

This happens very frequently – hackers are caught and then hired to design anti cracking/piracy programs
Hacking is fun and creative but what about artist’s work?
DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act)
United States – 1998 (Clinton) – New laws for new times
Anti-circumvention provisions – attempt to circumvent Digital Rights Management Illegal
Safe-Harbor – YouTube doesn’t get into too much trouble (protects hosting sites)
