As centers of civilization became established, their food surplus, technology and wealth became a target for warring nomadic tribes on the fringes. World history is punctuated with periodic incursions by various tribes often originating from Central Asia, where competition for grazing land and resources was fierce. The nomadic groups such as Assyrians, Israelites, Aryans and Babylonians moved into urbanized areas and eventually became integrated into those civilizations. They transitioned from nomads and established cities.
During this era three of the nomadic groups who established themselves regionally - the Aryans, Early Greeks and Hebrews - were to become the base for Eurasia's major cultural influences. They went on to found Indian, Hellenic and Judaic cultures.
