LITERARY ANALYSIS DRAFT: WORN PATH 2
1. The main character makes a difficult journey in the story. This reveals some of her
values and commitments, such as her love for a relative. How does this commitment
influence the way she copes with other conflicts in the story?
There is no doubt that the main character that was black and a Negro Phoenix Jackson
had to go a lot and he suffered a lot in the never ending story (Welty, 1991). For her, it was a very
critical path from going from the country to her town. Phoenix had to go through a lot because
she had a cane in her hand and all that she used to do was to waiver of the bushes that used to
come in a way thinking that these are animals (Orr, 1992). The skirt she was wearing was all torn
because of the thorny bushes and she was in much agony (Saunders, 1992). Phoenix was
concerned about her relative who was in the hospital and she repeatedly was asking about
different questions from the nurse (Bethea, 2001). The nurse eventually got frustrated but this
showed how concerned she was for her relative. The entire journey for Phoenix was very
difficult because she had to face poverty regardless of her stealing the nickel (Welty, 1991).
Phoenix remains to be a woman of her words who faced differently. The nurse was being a very
plant to Phoenix but Phoenix was so optimistic that she respected the nurse and stage quietly at
first. Phoenix was loaded with dignity, and there had been a lot that she had gone through but she
had this in your mind that the things will resolve soon on their own as the journey will end
(Welty, 1991).
2. Does Phoenix act differently around other people than she does with animals
and nature? What does this reveal about Phoenix's sense of herself in the world?
Phoenix is a very charming lady. There is no doubt in it the worn part is the name of the
short story because she had been to the part that was worn already (Bethea, 2001). Apart from
that, she had been very kind to animals and nature; as she wanted the dog to be out of the man's

1. The essay assignment
required that you list the
prompt and your revised
working thesis. It's good to
see you engaging these
guiding questions though!
If you review the model
assignment, you will see the
expected format. Be sure to
remove these questions in the
final essay. [Theodore

2. he
The character is female.
In this sentence, there are
several basic writing issues
that a writing tutor would have
noticed and offered
suggestions for. This
assignment did not require a
submission to a tutor, and I
don't see a number for the
tutor submission. But the
essay suggests that you did
not incorporate their
feedback, regardless.
[Theodore Geier]
3. come in a way thinking
that these are animals (Orr,
1992).
Not clear what this citation
refers to. The sentence and
ideas are unclear, and so the
source may have connected
in some way for you but it's
not quite clear what that
connection is. [Theodore
Geier]
4. who was in the hospital
She went to get medicine- the
person is back where she
began her journey.
Review the story a bit more
carefully for the final essay.
[Theodore Geier]
5. had to face poverty

the
Again unclear, but it is true
that she is not as rich as
others in the story, definitely.
This moment in the story
includes her being afraid of
the man with the gun and
secretly keeping the nickel--
those details could help you
explain the conflict a bit, as
well- see what you notice
there! [Theodore Geier]

custody. The way she reacted with the scarecrow, danced with it, thinking it as it was a ghost
(Bethea, 2001). The way she reacted with the Hunter man, thinking he was a miracle for him, but
unfortunately he was not. Phoenix made sure that she took charge of her and her dog over the
white man (Welty, 1991). Phoenix as an entirely different belief in herself she asked many
questions like is God watching the holes in a scenario in which the hunter is blind to her saying
that he does not have money (Bethea, 2001). She also claimed that this place where she was at,
what's the place that was entirely disoriented rather than providing comfort to her (Saunders,
1992). She had been in misery and a worn path through the entire city she had been going
through (Orr, 1992). Within herself, Phoenix claims that two things need to be understood by
everyone. One is the knowledge that one has and one thing is the knowledge which one does not
have but they are eager to attain it (Welty, 1991).
3. How do the other characters in the story influence Phoenix's behavior, and what does
this reveal about Phoenix's horticultural status?
Phoenix's behavior is overpowered by the White man. He was a black lady but she was a
woman of her own words (Bethea, 2001). She wanted medicines for her grandson. She was
going to get the medicines but unfortunately, people were not treating her in the best and
effective manner. The Hunter the attendant and the nurse, head different behaviors for poor
Phoenix (Bethea, 2001). Everyone was bashing her; the best part was, in the end, she got the
results. She got a Nickel, she got free medicines, who was the only one for her in the entire world
was safe. Fortitude, and weakness in social terms that Phoenix had; now been revealed as
strength for her. Phoenix was presenting as none other than a symbol of Christ within herself.
According to the horticultural status that she had it seems that Bush in the Thorns was the first
symbol that appeared in the story was full of love that was inspiring and selfish simultaneously.

Again, it is not clear what your
ideas mean throughout this
writing, and this begins to
suggest potential academic
dishonesty if the use of
citations is not actually
presenting ideas form the
source.
So here is a simple solution:
use some direct quotes to
support your ideas, instead of
suggesting paraphrase and
risking this problem.
Recall that the essay needs
to be your own words and
work, so an essay of ONLY
quotes won't work obviously.
See if you can find a "happy
medium" for this. [Theodore

an Introduction, body
paragraphs, and a
Conclusion. So far, it's not
clear how you have written an
essay that meets those
requirements. [Theodore

Please review again. One
important idea you already
started to suggest is that she

topic to discuss for this

And then you definitely have

There may be other general writing issues besides those noted so far.

LITERARY ANALYSIS DRAFT: WORN PATH 4
She had a lot of courage and sacrifices a lot (Orr, 1992). A lot of hardships came in her way
which she ignored, she was a woman of dignity (Welty, 1991). The Horticulture status that she
had was she was continuously talking to animals and plants that came in a way all she could give
was love and in the end, she plans to buy a windmill for her grandson so that she and he both are
happy (Bethea, 2001). Phoenix what's the Negro and the black and people were treating are in
the very bad man but also what he has committed boys how to get to her relatives that were her
grandson (Saunders, 1992). The love that she has portrayed for a grandson is outclassed. She had
to go through a lot of hardship and hurdles to get to a person for whom she was unable to collect
a charity (Bethea, 2001). No one was giving her any medicine for her grandson claiming that she
had no money. All that Phoenix was doing summarizes that the windmill that was giving to her
grandson symbolizes contentment and love. She also claims that her Garden her children in
Africa and the grandparents are the biggest reserve anyone can have (Saunders, 1992).
