Houser, J. (2018). Nursing research: Reading, using, and creating evidence, 4th ed. Jones & Bartlett Learning.

The problem I identified in week 2 was, Nurse Burnout during a Pandemic. For the content validity assessment, the research design used the mixed method design. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used to evaluate the questionnaire given in the study. The qualitative design of the study focused on the phenomenology aspect. Phenomenology develops understanding of experiences through the perception of those living in them (Stellar, n.d.). The questionnaire focused on the experiences of the nurses’ perceptions working during a pandemic. Qualitive research is a naturalistic approach of conducting research that focusses on understanding the meaning of the perspective of the individual’s experience (Houser, 2016).

The quantitative approach in the study used the content validity ration (CVR) to show that the DASS-21 questionnaire has adequate levels of reliability and validity for the assessment of stress, depression, and anxiety among nurses and other healthcare workers working during the COVID-19 pandemic. The questions in the survey were analyzed by nine experts of relevant disciplines and had to have a threshold of 0.78 to be acceptable and confirm content validity. The questions in the questionnaire received a 1. This concluded that the DASS-21 questionnaire is a reliable and highly repeatable questionnaire in determining stress and burnout in nurses and other healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic (Talaee et al., 2020).
