Mock Research Paper
1). In your own words, define the following terms:
· Control group – the control group consist of the individuals in your particular study that will not receive any sort of treatment.
· Experimental group – this group consists of the individuals that receive the variable that is being tested in the study.
· Independent variable – an independent variable is what you are trying to change or manipulate in your study, does not change
· Dependent variable – is the result from the manipulation of the independent variable. What happened?
2). Now decide how you will apply each one in your study
· What is your control group? family members of palliative care patients being treated by a social worker
· What is/are your experimental group(s)? family members of palliative care patients not being treated by a social worker
· What is independent variable? Stress levels of family members not receiving financial assistance
· What is your dependent Variable? Effects on stress for family members receiving financial aid
3). For your results, you will need at least two graphs. Briefly describe what you intend to show in each graph.
· Graph one: Would be comparing the levels of cortisol in the family members in relation to the amount of time spent participating in meditation treatment.
· Graph Two: Sympathetic Nervous System activity in family members with repetitive stress response versus those family members dealing with less stress.
