Introduction
A coffee house has always been more than places have foods and drinks but a place where people make new friends, have fun, and socialize. Due to the sedentary behavior and current lifestyle of people today, a coffee house has become a significant point of relaxation. This paper points out a significant plan to start a coffee house, bringing together various activities and sub-activities that should be implemented for the project to succeed (Lock, 2017). It will also discuss the financial plan for the activities, estimate the start, and end duration of the events in a project schedule. It will involve discussing the project scope, resources management plan, risk management plan, and work breakdown structures in ensuring the effectiveness of the project.
Project Scope
The coffee house is the plan to operate in the city area to target many of the customers. The city is filled with many workers class people who are prone to having coffee and other meal regularly. The main aim of the project is to offer high quality and affordable food and drinks at the customer’s specification. The house will occupy 2000 square foot and a capacity of forty chairs located in walking distance from the city. The project estimation cost is one thousand dollars financed from the local bank and financial institution (Sanghera, 2018). The project is expected to four months to for the house to be operational.
Work Breakdown Structure
For the project to be successful, work breakdown structures must be well planned and executed. It involves executing various organization segment and how each segment will be implemented and how they will be responsible for the work (Lavold, 2016). The role of work breakdown structures is to sub divides activities into parts focused at accomplishing the main project. In the case of this project, work breakdown structures will involve activities such as defining the work to be done, preparing the budget of the project, scheduling activities, and sub-activities for the accomplishment.
To start the coffee house project, the following are some of the major activities to be considered: preparing of the business plan, sources of funding the project form equity or borrowing from local bank and credit institution. Designing of the coffee house such as structure, menu, and process designs (Sanghera, 2018). It is developing a procurement plan that includes issues of tender for equipment, furniture, cutlery, and crockery. It also includes offering a tender to the maintenance activities such as maintenance of the house equipment and the house. Other activities involve food and hospitality, advertisement of the available vacancy, and preparing of commercial banners and online marketing of the coffee house.
The project activities will contain the following deliverables: the seating capacity f forty people at a time in two hundred square foot. Equipment needed in the coffee house include mixers, freezer, jukebox, and coffee marker. Wiring and electrical appliance such as air conditioning and having a power backup should be installed within the last month of the work. Furniture’s need includes chairs to accommodate forty people, tables to serves the forty people, a counter design with the cabinet that contains shelve for storage of inventory. It should also contain a menu card, poster, and menu board. A glowing signboard to be fixed in front of the shop.
Some of the technical requirement for the coffee house includes the following: shelves should be designed to accommodate more than sixty large boxes; the freezer should be large enough to have a capacity of more than three hundred liters. The coffee house should comply with all the local regulation, healthy regulation, and fire safety measures (Sanghera, 2018). The wire used in wiring the building should have the capacity to carry the high voltage to support air conditioning and electrical equipment. The painting should be of high quality together with the glow signboard.
Some of the limitation and exclusion in the coffee house project include the following: the activities should be carried as planned and the feedback provided by the customers. The activities will be carried in the daytime from 6.00 am to 5.00 pm. In purchasing the equipment and furniture should follow the established procurement plan. Buying the store such as salt, sugar, disposables, and coffee are not included in the inventory. The provided budget does not include salaries and rents expenditure that are part of the coffee house operation. Marketing and advertisement will be carried out separately from the project.
Risk Management Plan
For the project to be successful, it needs to prepare a risk management plan. The plan will enable involves identifying various risk while carrying out the activities while coming up with the best practice to ensure all the activities are accomplished as planned (Mochal & Mochal, 2016). The activities involve risk identification, ascertainment of the impact, and constraint to the project, identifying the frequency of occurrence, and developing mitigation measures.
Communication Plan
Effective communication is the key to the successful execution of the activities as it guides and helps the project team to work together effectively and efficiently (Warner & Cassar, 2015). Activities involve developing a communication plan indicating who should report to and the communication channel to be used. It also develops the frequency of communication to stakeholders to keep them update and bring clarity and people involved in a different type of communication.
